2. Twitter
Twitter is a micro-blogging platform.
This is the part where you say, “What the heck is a
micro-blogging platform?”
Allows you to write a “tweet” of up to 140 characters.
Can also include links to pictures, videos and websites.
Usage
255 million monthly active users, with over 100 million
who use it every day.
Includes 80% of world leaders.
16% ofAmerican adults have aTwitter account.
A majority of tweets come from a mobile device.
This has dramatic implications on customer service!
3. Twitter
Demographics
Most popular in the 18-29 age group.
No real difference amongTwitter users in terms of
education, ethnicities or urban and suburban
users.
4. The real question
How can you communicate anything of value
in 140 characters?
140 characters is more than you realize….
Twitter’s character limit forces you to be
brief, punchy and to the point.
16. Content to tweet
When used properly,Twitter should be just like Dale
Carnegie.
Truly listen, give praise, be enthusiastic and be genuine.
Important: What you tweet needs to enrich the lives
of your followers. You need to create value-added
content.
Don’t be too self-promotional!
For when you do tweet about your business:
Information about your industry and your business.
Sales/coupons.
New products/services.
“Meet the staff.”
17. Content to tweet
Personal information.
Multimedia is great.
Pictures, videos & links.
The more interactions and engagement, the
better.
Mentions, retweets.
Give praise and offer assistance.
Ask questions and actively solicit feedback.
18. Gaining followers
Content is King; no one will follow you if your
account is uninteresting.
The basics:
Tweet often and remember: the more interaction, the
better.
Use “@” mentions and retweet others – they will then be
more likely to mention and retweet you.
Participate in relevant hashtags.
Follow others.
Create a compelling profile, including avatar and
background image.
19. Gaining followers
Advertising in your promotional materials
Email blast
Email signatures
Link on website
Add to all print material
20. A note about Facebook…
You can hook up yourTwitter account so it
automatically posts to Facebook.
But…don’t.
“@” “RT” and shortened text will confuse people.
Yes, it’s extra effort, but it will look better and
make more sense.
