Jobs within the jurisdiction of the Border Police are:
1st Enforcement of the Act on the Supervision and Control of the state border;
2nd Implementation of the Law on Movement and Stay of Aliens and Asylum;
3rd prevention, detection and investigation of offenses prescribed by the criminal law in Bosnia and
Herzegovina if:
a) those criminal acts directed against the security of the state border or against the execution of tasks
within the competence of the Border Police; or
b) those crimes must be prosecuted in accordance with the provisions on abuse of public documents
that serve as proof of identity, passport and visa obligation of ownership, and the provisions on
Movement and Stay of Aliens and Asylum, if committed while crossing the border or are directly
related to crossing the state border; or
c) these crimes involve transportation of goods across the state border traffic is not permitted, the
goods without official authorization or in case of violation of existing prohibition if the BP assigned the
job of monitoring such authorizations or prohibitions based on regulation or administrative agreement
with the authority responsible for such prosecution.
4th prevention, detection and investigation of other crimes at the request of the competent authority;
5th prevention, detection and investigation:
a) The offenses prescribed by the Act on the supervision and control of state borders, the Law on
Movement and Stay of Aliens and other laws, or
b) other violations at the request of the competent authority;
6th Providing police support organizational units within the Ministry of Security in the implementation of
the Law on Movement and Stay of Aliens and other applicable regulations in this area.
7th Taking measures to protect civil air traffic and facilities of international airports in Bosnia and
Herzegovina;
8th Securing its organizational units of the danger;
9th Gives an expert opinion judicial authorities or other institutions at their request, with respect to the
authenticity of documents which were used or intended to be used for crossing the border. Such
documents include travel documents, personal identification and any other documents related to the
movement of persons, vehicles and goods across the border.
10th Performs other duties prescribed by law and other regulations.
