!Can it do so without a commercial capacity kitchen? Can it legally be an incorporated restaurant
without a kitchen? Why is the community questioning The Man Cave Niteclub LLC kitchen
capacity?
!This is how it was described by The Man Cave Niteclub LLC’s representative, Gordon, at the September
7, 2016 Miller Business Association Meeting:
There will be no cover. We will seat 59. We do not have a restaurant capacity kitchen. We plan to have a
food truck serve food there. We do not have a permit for this food truck. We will not do any upgrades to
the exterior. We will open at 7am and go as late as we can. We will have at least a two-way liquor license.
No we do not have the two-way liquor license yet. We were turned down this morning due to community
concern. We will reapply on October 4th. We chose this location because it is by the highway and the
mills. No we did not research the surrounding communities, before we invested in this location. Yes we
sued the city because they stated we needed a permit because they think we are a sexually oriented
business. We won our suit.
!2. Can The Man Cave Niteclub LLC legally rent their facility out to a private strip party, even
though their exact location has been denied a business license for sexually oriented businesses? If
The Man Cave Niteclub LLC is mirroring its business model after Hooters and the Tilted Kilt, why
would they allow this? This practice is not allowed in Hooters and Tilted Kilts located within the
state of Indiana. (Community Builder, Jessica E. Renslow, called and checked with both
establishments’ corporate managers on 10/3/16.)
!Why is the community questioning The Man Cave Niteclub LLC desire to rent to sexually oriented
businesses?
!The Man Cave Niteclub LLC’s representative, Gordon, stated the following at the September 7, 2016
Miller Business Association Meeting:
Yes we will absolutely rent to private strip parties.

2. !!Survey Results
!Of the 131 community members surveyed, three common concerns were vocalized whether the survey
responder was for, neutral, or against The Man Cave Niteclub LLC operating in our hometown;
transparency , perception and community safety.
!1. Perception Concerns
-Building Exterior
The Man Cave Niteclub LLC is located at 3201 E. Dunes Highway Gary,IN 46402. It faces Emerson’s
westward gateway and Aetna, Glen Ryan and Miller’s eastward gateways. Its facade has been recently
painted and the signage changed, however no other adjustments to the building have been created to make
it look less like a sexually oriented business and more like a Hooters or a Titled Kilt. The owners are
claiming that they will open a 21 and over version of a Hooters or a Titled Kilt. Their representative,
Gordon, described it as an Asian style hostess bar on 9/7/16. This confusing exterior and description leads
many to perceive The Man Cave Niteclub LLC to be operating their business just as Pandora’s Box did
previously, as a sexually oriented business.
!2. Transparency Concerns
-Website
The Man Cave Niteclub LLC website has only their address on it and a petition against the Miller
Citizens Corporation. Unlike other Gary nightclubs/ restaurants, Hooters and the Tilted Kilt there is no
explanation of their business, hiring practices, or a menu. Additionally some surveyed stated that the
business’s name and lack of info led them to believe it was sexist, did not cater to women and was not
LGBTQ friendly. This lack of transparency has led to a lot of confusion from the community.

5. Community Safety Concerns
!-Underage Employees
As The Man Cave Niteclub LLC website does not state any hiring practices, many surveyed were very
concerned about the potential of underage drinking or worse community safety concerns involving minors
on their site.
!Our local chapters of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Students Against Drunk Driving are striving to
address underage drinking in the area as well as responsible drinking. They work in correspondence with
our local police officers to address this issue.
!-Drugs and Human trafficking
Human trafficking and drugs have been an epidemic our community has been fighting for decades. The
Gary Rotary Club, United Methodist Women and Sacred Transformations are all group with focused
missions against human trafficking. They, along with many of those surveyed, vocalized concerns on
allowing a business such as The Man Cave Niteclub LLC. They would like a transparent, strategic plan
from The Man Cave Niteclub LLC stating their business operations and commitment to community
safety.
