2. Using Adjectives to Describe
Adjectives describe nouns. Like articles, they
match the gender of the nouns they describe.
In Spanish, adjectives usually follow the noun.
Masculine adjectives often end in “o”.
i.e. el chico guapo (the handsome boy)
Feminine adjectives often end in “a”.
i.e. la chica guapa (the good-looking girl)

3. Most adjectives that end with “e” match both
genders.
i.e. el chico/la chica paciente
(the patient boy/girl)
Many adjectives that end with a consonant
match both genders.
i.e. el chico/la chica fenomenal
(the phenomenal boy/girl)

4. Some add “a” to become feminine. These
adjectives must be memorized.
El chico trabajador (the hard-working boy)
La chica trabajadora (the hard-working girl)

Bajo(a) – short (height) Interesante - interesting
