What is SharePoint architecture: “When you say ‘architecture’, what do you mean?” In the context of SharePoint, there are several kinds of ‘architecture’ to consider:Physical, Logical, Functional and Platform architecture. in this context, we mean Physical and Logical architecture. more info http://zoom.it/ekDF#fullPhysical, Logical : The architecture of SP 15 is very much like SP 2010Numerous platform level improvements and new capabilitiesSQL ImprovementsCache ServiceRequest ManagementUXHTML 5, Themes, MDSSharingAppsSQL Improvements: Shredded Storage, Microsoft SQL Azure compliance criteria, Removing redundant and unused tables, sparse columnsRequest ManagementRequest Management in SharePoint Server 2013 enables IT to prioritize and route incoming requests through a rules engine that applies logic to determine the nature of the request and the appropriate response. Request Management can be used to:• Route requests to servers with good health characteristics based on a new weighting schema.• Identify and block known bad requests such as web robot.• Prioritize requests by throttling lower priority requests to preserve resources for those of higher priority.• Route specific request types to other servers, either within or outside of the farm handling the request.

It will talk about how users can Share, Organize, Discover, Build, and Manage ideas and content in a SharePoint environment. Following is a description of each of these concepts:■ Share You can share when talking about your content and information, spreading it socially, spreading it online, spreading it easily across multiple places and devices where you might need to interconnect, whether it is on-premises, mobile, on a tablet in a cloud, or at a client site.■ Organize This is how you structure and categorize the information, whether it is a project, team, or information held in documents using SharePoint Office 2013 applications, such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project, and syncing your content in SharePoint to your desktop with Microsoft SkyDrive Pro.■ Discover This concept includes connecting people across your organization, the discovery of insights and answers through the use of Business Intelligence, and finding what you’re looking for by using enterprise search. In this version of SharePoint, Microsoft has invested a great deal of effort into the integration of enterprise search.■ Build SharePoint 2013 has undergone major changes to the application model for how to build applications that are hosted on systems that are maintained by organizations on premises, or when the systems are maintained outside of the control of an organization, in the cloud; how to publish these applications internally through a corporate catalog; and publishing them outside an organization as well as sharing them across on-premises farms and cloud-based farmsthrough a public store. The new application mode also makes it possible for applications to be shared within office applications by using the new Windows 8 interface based computers, laptops, ultra books, tablets, and Windows Phone. These are now introduced to the Microsoft Office 2013 applications.■ Manage SharePoint 2013 provides better support for managing SharePoint as a platform. It can be run in the cloud with Microsoft Office 365. It contains new archiving, eDiscovery, and case management capabilities that include harePoint 2013, Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, and Microsoft Lync 2013.
SP15 provides a service application architecture consistent with SharePoint 2010add this to slide as new services : Translation Services, App Management, Work Management, PowerPoint Automation, Distributed CacheWeb Analytics:Reason for change: A new analytics system was required for SharePoint 2013 that included improvements in scalability and performance, and that had an infrastructure that encompasses SharePoint Online. The Analytics Processing Component in SharePoint 2013 runs analytics jobs to analyze content in the search index and user actions that are performed on SharePoint sites. The Web Analytics Service is not upgraded to the Analytics Processing Component in SharePoint 2013. When you upgrade to SharePoint 2013, the databases that contain the data from Web Analytics in SharePoint Server 2010 are not removed. These databases are not used by or maintained by the Analytics Processing Component in SharePoint 2013. This means that documents on sites in SharePoint Server 2010 that are upgraded will show a hit count of 0. ( The business requirements change then this reflect on technical)Office Web Apps: Office Web Apps has evolved into a separate server product, Office Web Apps Server, that can serve multiple SharePoint farms, Microsoft server products, especially SharePoint Server, Exchange Server, and Lync Server. and File servers (URL accessible)

Compliance levels extended to sites:Project closure and expiration policy:Closure of a sub-site does not prevent any usage of the site and essentially places it in a deletion countdown state. When a site is closed, it is trimmed from places that aggregate open sites to site members such as Outlook, OWA, and Project Server.Sites MailboxA site mailbox brings Exchange emails and SharePoint documents together. For users, a site mailbox serves as a central filing cabinet, providing a place to file project emails and documents that can be only accessed and edited by site members. Document libraries, announcement lists, and image libraries are also copied as part of the variations process. List variations are similar to page variations with one exception: you cannot specify individual items for translation. The complete list will be copied to targets and packaged for translation when using human translation or submitted to Microsoft for machine translation.Variations definition: Individual instances of a website that are localized and/or translated for a particular language and locale.
