1. Celebrity Ghost Stories

David Carradine

There's some funky connection between David
Carradine and closets. Sadly, the "Kung Fu" star died
in one earlier this year. And in his final interview,
filmed just months before his death, Carradine
revealed that the spirit of his fourth wife, Dana,
haunted him -- from the bedroom closet in their
house. Her message from beyond was conveyed
through cold spots and a tie that had inexplicably been
turned around, with the words "Grateful Dead" visible
on the back on a little logo. Carradine's question, "What does she mean by that?" We think
that she was just expressing her really bad taste in music.
Carradine tells his story of the beyond from the beyond on Saturday's series premiere of
"Celebrity Ghost Stories." But he wasn't the only famous believer in the supernatural. Check
out these other celebrities who've said they've had paranormal experiences through the years.

2. Ellen DeGeneres
She might have made light of the idea of ghosts, but back in 2006 Ellen DeGeneres welcomed
the "Ghost Hunters," Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, onto her set in an effort to confirm
reports of paranormal activity there. Crew members had claimed sightings of a disembodied
hand poking through a curtain and of a woman in a white dress with glowing red eyes and a
menacing voice. The ghostly woman scared a cleaning lady so badly that she fainted and
never went back to Stage 13. Ellen took the set tour with Hawes and Wilson as an opportunity
for humor rather than real paranormal discovery. But during their good-byes, their thermal
camera did pick-up a presence that wasn't visible to the human eye.
Gary Busey
Lots of C-List stars appeared on the sadly short-lived VH1 series "Celebrity Paranormal
Project." Each week, such "famous" folks as Hal Sparks, Joe Piscopo, and Danny Bonaduce
entered some insanely creepy - and allegedly haunted - place, like the Warson Asylum for the
Criminally Insane or Hawthorne Mill. There they wandered the deserted halls, cells, and
3. wards with little more than a night-vision camera and a walkie-talkie as they waited to get
the crap scared out of them. They usually reacted one of two ways: screaming and crying like
little girls or acting nonchalant... even though inside they were screaming and crying like
little girls. But not Gary Busey -- as might be expected of one of the scariest people on Earth,
Busey seemed at peace with the dark other worldliness he encountered at Waverly Hills
Sanatorium. Facing forces that would've made lesser men tremble (we're talking to you,
Gilbert Gottfried), he offered such sage wisdom as, "I heard sounds that were like a
mechanical tiger. And it felt graceful there and relaxed there. Mentally, emotionally,
spiritually, physically."
Jennifer Love Hewitt
On the "Ghost Whisperer," Jennifer Love Hewitt plays a medium based on real-life psychics
James Van Praagh and Mary Ann Winkowski. One night during a session with Van Praagh,
who is also an executive producer on the show, Love says she made contact with her dead
grandmother. Grandma's message was incredibly vague: Tell her I'm looking out for her.
We've had fortune cookies that were more insightful. Still, maybe Granny's the one who
hooked her up with her latest beau, Jamie Kennedy.
4. Dan Aykroyd
Got a feeling there's something mystifying going on in your house? Want to turn to someone
who might actually believe you? Who you gonna call? Dan Aykroyd. The "Ghostbusters" star
and former host of the Canadian show "Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal" admittedly
believes in ghosts (and also UFOs for the record). It's in his blood. According to the self-
proclaimed Spiritualist, his great-grandfather Sam was a dentist... and a mystic. And when
Dan was born, his mother claimed that the spirit of Sam and his long-deceased wife, Ellen
Jane, showed up at the foot of her bed to meet their newest heir. Dan's dad, Peter, is hopping
on the ghost train, too. His brand-new book, "A History of Ghosts: The True Story of Seances,
Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters," claims to tell the real-life story that inspired his son to
write the screenplay for his legendary Slimer-hunting comedy.
Matthew McConaughey
Before Matthew McConaughey was visited by "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," he was a young
actor with a new home in Los Angeles. He had no furniture, so being the outdoors man that
5. he is, he slept in a tent in the master bedroom. One night, he says that he awoke to hear his
dog growling and felt a presence in the room. Grabbing a baseball bat for protection, he left
the tent and saw a blue mist floating in the room. According to McConaughey, he chased the
ethereal being away that first night, but he and "Madame Blue" became friends. He
explained, "She's a cool ghost. Maybe being nude all the time is why we get along."
Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves seems as cool about his personal apparition spottings as the exorcist he played
in "Constantine" was when it came to dealing with supernatural beings. He's reported that as
an adult he and a friend both had a casual encounter with a ghost in a bar in Austin, Texas.
How he distinguished the spirit from other drinkers, we do not know. He also had a
childhood run-in, which he says was much more vivid. Keanu explains that as a boy of five, a
white double-breasted suit walked into his room. No one was in it -- just a suit. Then it
disappeared. He should have taken the blue pill.
6. Neve Campbell
You'd think that the star of "Scream" and "Canterbury Ghost" would try to find the most
peaceful and un-paranormal house around. But Neve Campbell chose to buy a house where a
woman had been murdered. Neve never saw the ghost that allegedly haunted her Laurel
Canyon home, but her friends said they did. And despite the fact that the mischievous spirit
did things like turn the furnace off and turn the lights on, Campbell said she liked the ghost.
Well, maybe not all that much... she moved out after four years.
Nicolas Cage
We can imagine a guy like Francis Ford Coppola, who killed a lot of people in the "Godfather"
movies, would be haunted by spirits. But we'd also think that someone as seemingly edgy as
his nephew Nicolas Cage would be able to handle a ghost or two. Come on, he played the
Ghost Rider! Not the case: Nic was spooked (so to speak) by a specter that he saw in
Coppola's attic and refused to stay at his house.
