4. Bocce Tournament Preliminaries Saturday, September 29, 2007 Perennial favorite Tyson’s team did not make it to the finals this year. Pelham Bay Park played host to the Citywide Finals in 2006. Bottom : Marine Park’s three courts were in use all day. Marine Park came in second in the finals.
5. Bocce Tournament Preliminaries JJ Walker Park, Manhattan Top : Measuring for victory – a millimeter is as good as a mile. Bottom : The top 2 teams – American Bocce and The Last of the Unplucked Gems. Juniper Park, Queens Bocce fans were treated to a display of various techniques for rolling.
6. Bocce Tournament Preliminaries South Beach, Staten Island Left : John Anatole, president of the South Beach Bocce Club, is a fierce competitor in the field. Bottom: Fans – of all shapes and sizes – were enthralled by the competition.
7. The Bocce Finals Juniper Park, Queens Sunday, September 30, 2007 Hundreds of spectators gathered around the courts throughout the course of the day. A new crop of younger bocce players joined the tournament this year, and even made it to the Finals.
