Ohio State University ExtensionOhio State University Extension
provides a critical mission in addition to the
work provided by Ohio Universities in
teaching and research. Extension means
“reaching out” and OSU Extension extends
its resources, solving public needs with
university-based intellectual capital through a
myriad of activities. Ohio State University
Extension has a substantial track record in
contributing to Ohio’s overall quality of life
and positively impacting the economy of the
state. As knowledge and intellectual capacity
become the foremost drivers of modern
economies, it is likely that university
extension activities will grow in their central
importance to economic progress. (from
Battelle’s report of Ohio State University
Extension, January, 2005)
Nancy has provided service to counties in the
state of Ohio in Leadership Development for
staff, community members through community
leadership programs and defined programs in
situational leadership and boardsmanship.
Nancy is a trained presenter for the Myers
Briggs Temperament Indicator and has
administered Employee Opinion Surveys for
governmental groups to determine a course
of training .
Nancy has worked to develop a website of
activities “Building Dynamic Groups” that
is the source of many developmental activities
that she uses in her work with employees.
Solving People problems in

Solving People Problems in the WorkplaceSolving People Problems in the Workplace
Ohio State University Extension has resources you need to build employee skills to
solve people problems. Greater skills mean more focus on the job at hand.
Myers Briggs Type IndicatorMyers Briggs Type Indicator
Your staff can move forward in meet-
ings faster with an understanding of
personality types. Sales types operate
differently from technical types. Help-
ing the groups understand their differ-
ences means more work gets accom-
plished while bridging the gap across
segments of your workforce. This can
be step one in conflict resolution. A
more in depth look at Introversion
and Extroversion can encourage
your Extroverts to listen to Introverts
and introverts to be patient with
extroverted staff members.
Board TrainingBoard Training
For Board Members, Chairs and
Executive Directors. What is a
board issue and what is a staff
issue? How can an executive
director avoid board members
micromanaging while still gaining
cooperation in macromanaging?
Board training encourages board
members and executive directors
to manage their work to maximize
effectiveness while reducing
frustration.
Building Dynamic GroupsBuilding Dynamic Groups
This toolkit helps groups build
relationships and encourages higher
level functioning of the entire group.
These materials help your work
group build communication, team-
work, vision, collaboration and
facilitation skills. Can be used with
or without a facilitator.

Managing DifficultManaging Difficult
ConversationsConversations
Employees need greater skills
today than ever before to get past
barriers that difficult people impose.
This program will enable your staff
members to understand temperaments
and how to diffuse difficult people to
accomplish today’s work assignments.
Strategic PlanningStrategic Planning
Have a need for a facilitated discussion
to create a strategic plan while your
staff continues to meet the needs of
your clients? Trained facilitators
experienced with working with a wide
variety of groups can help your work-
place move forward.
Communicating AcrossCommunicating Across
GenerationsGenerations
Are there different languages happen-
ing in your workplace due to genera-
tional differences? What might your
“Silents” need to understand about
Generation X...or Y?
