Jack speaks less that sometimes makes him frustrated and aggressive to his classmates. In order to ensure inclusive teaching-learning methodology for Jack, my strategies will be :To give emphasis on developing vocabulary with easy-to-pronounce words without any confusing double meaningsTo support him with additional resources appropriate to himTo divide the lesson planning into chunks that can help him to learn quickly. He will be engaged more to the classroom and lessonsTo ensure the classroom environment favouring Jack to practise communication with adults and peersTo support Jack initiating and practising routine communication during greeting time, toileting and meal times etc.Ref: Bright Hub Education. My topic is ‘A Child with Down syndrome’ for my assignment ‘Meeting the Needs of Children and Families: Part One’.I had to do a lot of research about the symptoms, signs, causes, and management of a child with Down syndrome for this assignment. Such research and study provided me with in-depth knowledge about children with disability. This assignment is closely related to my future career. The course “Inclusion of children with special needs” gave me the opportunity to recognize the value of diversity and social inclusion. I could learn that it is important to respect children and families of children with special needs. Early childhood educators need to know the signs and symptoms of different disabilities among the children ,and to deal with them properly. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to know all these information from this course. As a global citizen, this learning outcome provided me also with abundant information and understanding about communicating families and children with disability. I will be able to interpolate these skills in my profession as an ECE to communicate diverse families and children with disability more easily and comfortably.I am now prepared to deal with families and children with Down syndrome.
