The University of North Carolina and Nike signed a new 10-year contract
in May 2009 for Nike to continue as the exclusive supplier of athletic foot-
wear, apparel and accessory products. Nike will provide the athletic de-
partment with shoes, uniforms, coaching gear, balls and other equipment.
Nike also gave the University $2 million for the Chancellor’s Academic
Enhancement Fund to support faculty. “The University of North Carolina
is proud of its long-standing relationship with Nike,” says Director of Ath-
letics Dick Baddour. “This partnership has benefitted all 28 varsity sports
and provided millions of dollars for academics and student scholarships at
the University.”

2010 Preview • Carolina Men’s Golf
Coming off a fall season that includ-
ed a first-place finish at the Maryland
Intercollegiate, the University of North
Carolina men’s golf team hopes to build
upon its confidence and play consistent
golf this spring.
“That win at Maryland was big.
It was a lot of fun,” Inman said. “I’m
pleased that we did get that win under
our belt and know that we are capable
of winning golf tournaments. That’s
what we’re here to do. We didn’t play
as well last year so to start off the year
with a win was a great boost for the year.
We can’t rest on that because we have
a lot of great tournaments with strong
fields.”
Despite the big win, the Tar Heels
found themselves struggling to play
consistently in the middle of their fall
schedule, but a solid finish at the UNCG
Bridgestone Collegiate marked the end
of a successful fall season.
The Tar Heels will depend on se-
niors David Holzworth and Chase Mac-
Farland to provide leadership and expe-
rience this spring.
Fifth-year senior Chase MacFarland, of Savannah, Ga., aver-
aged 74.78 strokes last season in 23 rounds of play. He tied for
second with teammate Matt Raudenbush at the Dogfight at Ford’s
Colony in the fall of 2008 for his best finish of the season and
in the spring he tied for 15th at the ACC Championships. Inman
hopes that MacFarland will have a consistent spring season and
finish his career with strong post-season play.
	 “Chase is probably
one our most talented
ball strikers. Being a
fifth year senior, he has
a lot of experience,” In-
man said. “He needs to
improve his putting and
we’re going to work
on that in the offsea-
son. He’s had some of
our best finishes in the
ACC Championship
and NCAA Regionals
the last couple of years.
That’s the time of the
year he’s playing his
best.”
	 Fellow senior Da-
vid Holzworth will pro-
vide consistent putting
for the Tar Heels. The
Chapel Hill native con-
tributed to the Tar Heels’
win at Maryland last fall
and Inman is confident he will contrib-
ute to the team this spring.
“He’s very talented, probably the best
putter on the team,” Inman said. “When
he is on, he really adds a lot to our team.
We need him to really be focused and
ready to play every week.”
Junior Henry Zaytoun III, a native
of Raleigh, N.C., got a huge boost of
confidence after having a successful
fall campaign. He captured his first col-
legiate individual title as co-champion
of the Maryland Intercollegiate. After
failing to score below 70 last season,
Zaytoun recorded four rounds in the 60s
this fall.
“Henry has really improved all as-
pects of his game. He’s much more con-
fident on the golf course, shooting a lot
of under-par scores,” Inman said. “He’s
had it well under par in many rounds.
He’s a great scorer and he’s definitely
one of our cornerstones.”
	 Kevin O’Connell, a junior from
Cary, N.C., has already proven that he
is one of the most consistent golfers on
Inman’s squad. Twenty-five of his 30 rounds counted toward the
team total last season and with a 19th place finish at the NCAA
Northeast Regional, he brings great post-season experience to the
team and dedication to the sport. His 72.23 average was the team’s
lowest last season and O’Connell recorded nine rounds under par,
the most on the team. Despite his past successes, O’Connell strug-
gled last fall and hopes to rebound in the spring season.
“Kevin has been our most consistent player over the last cou-
ple of years, but he struggled with his swing last fall,” Inman said.
“He’s really going to work on getting his confidence back and hit-
ting fairways. An incredible competitor, he never gives up. I ex-
pect him to be ready to play.”
Durham native Philip Chauncey rounds out a talented junior
class. Chauncey captured an individual title at the Duke Coca-Cola
Individual Collegiate in the fall of 2008 and played well in the
first half of the
2009-10 sea-
son.
	 “Philip has
become a much
more consis-
tent player.
Through our
nine or ten
rounds he did
not shoot over
74 in qualify-
ing. He’s very
consistent in all
aspects of the
game. I think
he just needs to

believe in himself. When he putts well, he shoots good scores. So
we’re going to focus on the putter in the offseason,” Inman said
Jack Fields was an instant contributor in his freshman season
and continued to pace the Tar Heels last fall. Fields averaged 73.48
strokes last season and recorded four rounds in the 60s. Coming
off a summer win at the Carolinas Amateur and a tie for second
place at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in the fall, Inman
hopes Fields’ confidence will lead to a successful season.
“Jack is probably one of the most talented players I’ve seen in
a long time. When his confidence is up he shoots 63,” Inman said.
“He shoots some of the lowest rounds I’ve ever seen. I know he
wants to play professional golf, he wants to play at the next level
and so he’s going to be working hard in the off season to build on
a good fall, a really solid fall.”
Sophomore Patrick Barrett will look to contribute more to the
squad this season. Barrett played well as an individual last sea-
son, winning the Dogfight at Ford’s Colony and averaging 73.90
strokes per round, but only counted three rounds to the team total.
Barrett recorded
the lowest round
last season, a 64 at
the Dogfight. In-
man is optimistic
that Barrett, a na-
tive of Pinehurst,
N.C., will be a
strong contributor
this spring.
“Patrick is a young
man who can
shoot incredibly
low scores, but has
struggled keeping
the ball in the fair-
way,” Inman said.
We’re going to re-
ally focus on get-
ting the ball on the
fairway and then
I think we’ll see
some good things
out of Patrick.”
Matt Raudenbush, from Pine Valley, N.J., did not compete this
fall, but Inman believes that the hard-working sophomore will see
payoff for his dedication to his game this spring. Raudenbush av-
eraged 74.70 strokes last season and tied for second place at the
Dogfight at Ford’s Colony.
“Matt is one of the hardest workers on the team. He hits the
ball a long way. He just needs to really learn to score consistently.
He does many things well, but just putting it all together is the key
for Matt,” Inman said.
Freshman Michael McGowan did not have to wait long to con-
tribute to a Tar Heel victory. McGowan finished in a tie for fifth
place at the Maryland Intercollegiate, the second-best finish in the
Tar Heels’ victory.
“Michael is one of the fastest players I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t
spend a lot of time worrying about things. He just gets up and hits
the shot,” Inman said. “He has a great mindset for the game. He
doesn’t let things
bother him. An
extremely talent-
ed scorer, even
if he’s not play-
ing well he still
finds a way to get
it done. I love his
game.”
	 Fellow fresh-
man Clark Palm-
er, from Augusta,
Ga., is still trying
to tune up his
game, but Inman
expects him to
contribute this
spring.
	 “Clark is ex-
tremely talented.
We’re just trying
to get the right
driver in his hand
to get him back
on track,” Inman
said. “I think he just needs to build his confidence and have some
good scores in qualifying and really get in the mix. He didn’t play
as well as he would have liked last fall, but we’re only halfway
through the year.”
This year’s squad is a good mix of experience and youth. In-
man is excited about the talented group that is already achieving at
a high level. If three or four players can hit their stride at the same
time the Tar Heels will be a force, he predicts.
Inman hopes the team can start the spring season off the same
way they kicked off the fall, with a big win that will create momen-
tum for a successful season.
	 “Everything builds
toward the ACC
Championships and
the NCAA Tourna-
ment. We want to be
playing consistently
coming into the ACC
Tournament,” Inman
said. “I think it’s go-
ing to be a wide-open
field this year. There’s
a lot of good teams,
but I think we have the
talent to go back and
grab that ACC Cham-
pionship.”

Order of Merit • Carolina Men’s Golf
The Carolina Order of Merit was established in 1991 by the University
of North Carolina Department of Athletics and Golf Program to honor former
players, coaches, administrators and friends who have distinguished them-
selves in the game and for their overall contributions to the golf program at
the University. The contributions of these individuals have been of paramount
importance in the growth of the program at UNC, and they are an integral part
of the excellence of one of America’s top collegiate golf programs.
The first two inductees, Jim Ferree and Harvie Ward, were inducted in
1991, Chuck Erickson and Bill Williamson were inducted in 1992, Bobby Gal-
loway was inducted in 1993, Dot Gunnells and Ed Kenney were the inductees
in 1994, John Inman was inducted in 1996, Davis Love III was inducted in
1997, Roger Perry was inducted in 2001, A.E. Finley and the Finley Founda-
tion were inducted in 2002, Donna Andrews was inducted in 2003 and Woody
Durham was inducted in 2007. The inductions take place at the Executive Cup
Golf Tournament each year during the event’s annual banquet.
DONNA ANDREWS
Donna Andrews, one of Carolina’s top players, now plays on the LPGA
Tour. A star on Tar Heel teams, 1986-89, Andrews was selected second-team
All-America in 1989. During her collegiate career, she
captured one championship, the 1988 Lady Paladin In-
vitational. She also finished third at the 1989 NCAA
Championship, the best finish ever by a Carolina player
in that prestigious event. Andrews was a two-time
champion of the North and South Amateur, capturing
that title in 1984 and 1988. She was selected in 2003 to
the Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Wom-
en’s Golf Team.
Andrews, a past president of the LPGA, has been
playing on the LPGA Tour since 1990. She also pro-
vides commentary for some events. She has captured
six LPGA championships, including the 1994 Nabisco Dinah Shore Cham-
pionship. She is a two-time member of the Solheim Cup, 1994 and 1998.
Andrews finished in the top three in the 1992 and 1993 U.S. Women’s Open
Championships, a truly remarkable accomplishment.
WOODY DURHAM
Woody Durham, in his 40th year as “Voice of the Tar Heels,” was in-
ducted into the Order of Merit in 2007. He has participated in UNC’s Ex-
ecutive Cup Golf Tournament and served as the emcee of the tournament’s
banquet since its inception in 1976.
Durham has received numerous broadcasting awards during his career. He
has been honored 12 times as the North Carolina Sports-
caster of the Year, the most recent in 2005. In 2004 he
was inducted into the North Carolina Broadcasters As-
sociation Hall of Fame and in 2005 he was inducted into
the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. In November
2000, Durham received the William R. Davie Award,
the highest honor given by the UNC trustees. He has
been honored or received awards from the UNC Athletic
Department, the North Carolina High School Athletic
Association, the UNC General Alumni Association, the
Atlantic Coast Conference and the All-America Football
Foundation.
In addition, Durham serves as co-chairman of the Carolina Kids Classic,
which raises money for the Ronald McDonald House, the UNC Children’s
Hospital and the Childhood Trust.
Durham and his wife, Jean, reside in Chapel Hill. They have two sons,
Wes, who is the play-by-play broadcaster for Georgia Tech and the Atlanta
Falcons, and Taylor, who is the network affiliations manager for International
Sports Properties in Winston-Salem, N.C.
CHUCK ERICKSON
A very famous name in Carolina athletic history is Chuck Erickson.
He served as Carolina’s men’s golf coach for 23 years from 1935 till 1961,
minus three years during World War II when the school
fielded no team. In that span, his teams won five con-
ference championships and placed second and fourth
in the 1953 and 1960 NCAA Tournaments. Erickson
coached three All-Americas, Harvie Ward, Bill Wil-
liamson and Bill Thornton, and one NCAA champion,
Ward in 1949.
Erickson was also Carolina’s athletic director,
1952-1968. During his tenure, the University broke
from the Southern Conference and helped form the At-
lantic Coast Conference. Erickson was directly respon-
sible for the construction of UNC’s own Finley Golf
Course.
A native of Oak Park, Ill., Erickson graduated from Carolina in 1931 and
was a star halfback on the 1928-1930 football teams. He was a recipient of the
Helms Athletic Hall of Fame Award in 1970 and was inducted into the North
Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. Erickson passed away in 1977 after
suffering a heart attack.
JIM FERREE
Jim Ferree played on Carolina’s 1951-1953 golf
teams and was the 1953 Southern Conference Cham-
pion. A native of Pine Bluff, N.C., Ferree played on
the PGA Tour for 11 years, 1956-1966, and won the
1958 Vancouver Centennial. He was a fixture on the
Senior Tour for many years, beginning in 1981. He
won two tournaments on the Senior Tour – the 1986
Greater Grand Rapids Open and the 1991 Bell Atlan-
tic Classic. In addition to his win at the Bell Atlantic
Classic in 1991, he carded eight top-10 finishes.
A.E. FINLEY & THE FINLEY FOUNDATION
A.E. Finley and the Finley Foundation have
been instrumental in all the success of the men’s and
women’s golf programs with their generous and loyal
support for over 60 years. Finley was largely respon-
sible for the original construction of Finley Golf Course
which opened in 1949. The Finley Foundation remains
an integral part of the A.E. Finley Executive Cup Golf
Tournament which is an important part of the tradition
of Carolina’s golf program and a fixture on the schedule
each year.
BOBBY GALLOWAY
Bobby Galloway was the fifth inductee into the
Order of Merit. Galloway lettered for the Tar Heels in
1959 and 1960 and was captain in 1960 when Carolina
won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship. That
same year, Galloway was a quarterfinalist at the NCAA
Championships and led the Tar Heels to a fourth-place
finish.
He turned professional in 1964 but not before he
won the Winston-Salem City-County Championship

1965 when he placed 10th at Memphis. Galloway was
the Carolinas PGA champion in 1971. He won the North Carolina Open in
1972 and the National PGA Club Pro title in 1976. Galloway was the Caroli-
nas Professional Golfer of the Year in 1976.
In 1980, Galloway regained his amateur status and has since won 10 tour-
nament titles. He presently resides in Chapel Hill.
DOT GUNNELLS
Dot Gunnells, one of the premier coaches in the country during her tenure,
was the head coach of Carolina’s women’s team for 18 years, 1974-1993.
Gunnells was named Coach of the Year in 1993 by the
National Golf Coaches Association. That same year,
she was inducted into the National Golf Coaches As-
sociation Hall of Fame and was the recipient of the Na-
tional Golf Coaches Association Gladys Palmer Award
for contributions to golf outside the normal coaching
responsibilities.
In 1985, Gunnells was named the ACC Coach of
the Year and in 1992 she was selected the Mid-Atlan-
tic/East Region Coach-of-the-Year. Her teams carded
11 national top-25 finishes, placed eighth at the NCAA
Championship three times (1989, ’92 and ’93) and won
the ACC Championship in 1992. She also coached five All-Americas.
JOHN INMAN
One of Carolina’s greatest golfers, John Inman won
the NCAA Championship in 1984 at Bear Creek Golf
World in Houston, Texas. He broke Ben Crenshaw’s
NCAA record with a 17-under-par score which stood
in the record books for 16 years. Inman was the second
Tar Heel to win an NCAA Individual Championship,
the first being Harvie Ward in 1949. Inman won the
1984 Fred Haskins Award as the National Player of the
Year. He was a member of the World Amateur Team
that same year and won the ‘84 Western Amateur. He

Carolina Men’s Golf • Order of Merit & Executive Cup
The A. E. Finley Executive Cup remains an important part of the tradi-
tion of the Carolina golf program and a fixture on the schedule each year.
Formerly the Carolina Executive Cup, this tournament now carries a
name to recognize an individual who has meant so much to Tar Heel Golf.
In addition to providing funds for the original construction of the golf course
and facilities, his estate has donated money for the annual trophy given to the
tournament winners and also for the banquet held after the competition.
This annual tournament is an opportunity for supporters of Carolina golf
to play with past and present Carolina golfers, coaches and University offi-
cials. This tournament is more than just a fundraiser; it is a homecoming for
former players to renew old acquaintances and establish new friendships.
The A. E. Finley Executive Cup, which had its start in 1976, provides
vital funds for an endowment from which both golf teams may draw ad-
ditional revenue for travel expenses. Since the men’s and women’s teams
play national schedules, which take them all across the country to face tough
competition, the A. E. Finley Executive Cup is pivotal in helping maintain
the Tar Heel program at the top of collegiate golf.
The appearances of golfing legend Jack Nicklaus in the 1980, ’81 and
’83 events are highlights of the tournament’s history, as he thrilled all specta-
tors and contestants with a clinic he conducted after each tournament.
The inaugural Executive Cup in 1976 was played at the Country Club of
North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C. The tournament was moved to Grandfa-
ther Mountain a year later and was played there for one year (1977) before
returning to the Country Club of North Carolina for two more years (1978-
79). Beginning in 1980 it was played at UNC’s Finley Golf Course and
continued to be played there through 1990.
After a four-year stint at the Governors Club
(1991-94), the event returned to UNC Finley
Golf Course where it is still played today.
The 2009 winning team was Jeremy Elliott,
Amber Elliott, Neal Harrell, Brad Burris and
Sydney Crane. Jeremy Elliott, Amber Elliott
and Crane are all former Tar Heel golfers.
time All-ACC performer (1982-84) during his four-year career (1981-84) as
a Tar Heel. Inman captured five collegiate titles. Besides his NCAA title, he
won the ‘83 Augusta College Invitational, ‘82 ACC Tournament, ‘82 Forest
Hills Invitational and ‘81 Methodist Invitational.
Inman turned professional in 1985 and played on the PGA Tour for 12
years (1987-1998). While playing on the PGA Tour he won the 1987 Provi-
dent Classic and the 1993 Buick Southern Open. A native of Greensboro, N.C.,
Inman is in his 12th year as head coach of the Tar Heels and has already led
Carolina to three top-10 NCAA finishes and an ACC Championship.
ED KENNEY
Ed Kenney served as the head professional at Finley Golf Course and also
coached the men’s team during 27 years with the University. He was the head
pro at Finley and manager of the pro shop from 1949,
the year the course opened, until he retired in 1976.
Kenney was the men’s golf coach for 12 years,
1961-1972. His teams won over 71 percent of their
matches and finished 12th at the 1962 NCAA Cham-
pionship. His 1965 team captured the ACC Champi-
onship. Kenney also coached three ACC individual
champions.
Kenney passed away in 2001, and a men’s golf
team award was established in his honor. It encom-
passes a player’s attitude, academic and athletic contri-
butions.
DAVIS LOVE III
One of Carolina’s greatest golfers, Davis Love III, now stars on the PGA
Tour. As a Tar Heel, Love was a three-time All-America and three-time All-
ACC performer (1983-85). He was the ACC Champion in 1984, one of six
individual titles he captured during his three-year ca-
reer as he led the Tar Heels to 17 team championships.
Love was selected to the 1985 Walker Cup team.
Love was an immediate star on the PGA Tour as he
was named the 1986 PGA Rookie of the Year. Since
then he has posted 20 PGA victories including the 1997
PGA Championship. the ’1995 World Cup individual
title and the 2008 Children’s Miracle Network Classic.
Love has been a five-time member of the World Cup
Team (1992-95, 1997), a six-time member of the Ryder
Cup Team (1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2004) and
a six-time member of The Presidents Cup (1994, 1996,
1998, 2000, 2003, 2005).
ROGER PERRY
Roger Perry is a great friend and supporter of the Carolina golf progam
and was inducted into the Order of Merit in 2001. Perry served as chairman
of Carolina’s Executive Cup Golf Tournament for three years and was co-
chairman of the fundraising campaign for the recent $10 million redesigning
and construction of UNC Finley Golf Course and the
Chapman Center.
Perry, a real estate developer and president of East
West Partners Management Company, Inc. in Chapel
Hill, has served on numerous local and national fund-
raising committees and charities.
Perry is a 1971 graduate from Carolina and pres-
ently resides in Raleigh.
HARVIE WARD
One of the most celebrated golfers in Carolina’s
history is Harvie Ward. A member of the Tar Heel 1947-1950 golf teams,
he was Carolina’s first All-America in 1949 and was
the NCAA Champion that same year, defeating Okla-
homa’s Bo Winninger, LSU’s Gardner Dickinson
and Notre Dame’s Tommy Veech before dispatching
Texas’ Morris Williams Jr. in the 36-hole final, 5 and
4. However, he gained national prominence a year
earlier when he won the 1948 North and South Ama-
teur. A virtual no-name nationally when he entered the
tournament, he sent Arnold Palmer and former U.S.
Amateur Champion Dick Chapman home before edg-
ing international star Frank Stranahan in the 36-hole
final, 1-up. Estimated crowds, upwards of 2,000, came
to the the famed Pinehurst #2 as fraternity brothers, teammates, coeds and
others formed a caravan from Chapel Hill to Pinehurst to cheer the happy-go-
lucky Ward on to victory.
Ward was the 1950 Southern Conference Champion and following gradu-
ation he won the 1952 British Amateur, the 1954 Canadian Amateur and the
1955 and 1956 U.S. Amateurs.
A native of Tarboro, N.C., Ward spent much of his life as a businessman
and golf pro in California before semi-retiring and moving to Pinehurst. He
passed away in September 2004.
BILL WILLIAMSON
Bill Williamson played on Carolina’s 1951-1953
teams. He had an outstanding season his senior year
as he was the runner-up in the NCAA Tournament in
1953. He led the team to a second-place finish that
year, the Tar Heels’ first top 20 finish, and was named
to the All-America team, becoming Carolina’s second
All-America in history.
Williamson is a former chairman of Carolina’s Ex-
ecutive Cup Golf Tournament and is an active booster
of the Tar Heel golf program. In the fall of 2004, the
men’s and women’s practice range, greens, etc. were
dedicated and named the Williamson Golf Team Practice Facility. A business-
man who resides in Charlotte, Williamson was co-chairman of the fundraising
campaign for the recent refurbishing of UNC Finley Golf Course.
A.E. FINLEY EXECUTIVE CUP
Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus’ clinics were
a highlight of past Executive Cups.

After spending 12 years playing on the PGA Tour, John Inman
returned home - to his home state and to his alma mater. Entering
his 12th year as head coach, Inman continues to bring enthusiasm,
pride, and experience to the Tar Heel program.
“John Inman is running a first class program at UNC,” says
Athletic Director Dick Baddour. “His knowledge of the game and
his experience on the PGA Tour make him an exceptional teacher
and coach. John has a passion for Carolina and the golf program
and his team reflects that passion.”
Inman, a native of Greensboro, N.C., and a 1984 graduate of
Carolina, came to Chapel Hill from Roswell, Ga., where he lived
for nine years while playing on the PGA Tour. Inman turned pro-
fessional after he graduated from Carolina and played on the PGA
Tour for 12 years (1987-1998). He won two tournaments during
his pro career - the 1987 Provident Classic and the 1993 Buick
Southern Open. He also posted eight top-10 finishes and 32 top-25
finishes.
“I’m enjoying being the head coach at my alma mater,” said
Inman. “I look forward to continuing to build our team into con-
tenders at the conference and national level. Carolina is one of the
top academic institutions and with UNC Finley Golf Course and
the Chapman Center, we have some of the finest facilities in the
country. It’s thrilling to be a part of it.”
Inman brings a plethora of college playing experience to his
duties as coach. He was a three-time All-America (1982-84) and
three-time All-ACC performer (1982-84) while on the Tar Heel
team from 1981-84. He won the NCAA Individual Championship
in 1984 and was the recipient of the 1984 Fred Haskins Award as
the National Player of the Year. Inman’s score of 17-under-par in
the NCAA Championship broke Ben Crenshaw’s NCAA record by
two strokes. That record, set at Houston’s Bear Creek Golf World,
was tied three times before it was broken in 2000 by Charles How-
ell, of Oklahoma State, who fired a 23-under-par score.
Inman, a member of the 1984 World Amateur Team and the
1984 Western Amateur Champion, won five tournaments while
at Carolina. In addition to the 1984 NCAA Championship, he was
the individual medalist at the 1981 Methodist Invitational, the 1982
ACC Tournament, the 1982 Forest Hills Invitational and the 1983
Augusta College In-
vitational.
	 While Inman
was a member of
the Carolina team,
the Tar Heels cap-
tured 15 team titles,
including three
ACC champion-
ships (1981, 1983
and 1984). They
participated in the
NCAA Champion-
ship in all four of
Inman’s years, post-
ing three top-10 fin-
ishes. Carolina’s top
NCAA finish during Inman’s career came in `84 when the team
posted a fourth-place finish, the same year he captured the indi-
vidual championship.
Since taking the helm at Carolina, the Tar Heels have won 14
team championships and eleven players have captured 16 individ-
ual titles. Carolina won the ACC Championship in 2006, its 11th
in school history, and two Tar Heels captured the ACC individual
championship, in 2002 and 2003. When Carolina won the confer-
ence title in 2006, Inman became the first person to win the ACC
title as a player (1982) and a coach. In addition, Carolina posted
a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championship in 2003, 10th-
place finishes in 1999 and 2000 and a 17th-place finish in 2002 and
2006. Also, Dustin Bray became the winningest Tar Heel in school
history, with seven wins, under Inman’s tutelage.
Juniors Kevin O’Connell and Henry Zaytoun III and sopho-
more Jack Fields have already reached high marks while playing
for Inman. O’Connell was named to the All- ACC team for the sec-
ond year last season after a successful campaign that ended at the
NCAA Northeast Regional. As a freshman, O’Connell was selected
to the All-Freshman Team, All-Region, Third Team All-America,
and most notably the ACC Freshman of the Year. Zaytoun cap-
tured his first individual title at the Maryland Intercollegiate last
fall and Fields has consistently shot low rounds for the Tar Heels.
While at Carolina, Inman has honed his game by competing in
the New Zealand Open for six years (1999-2004). He carded four
top-40 finishes including a tie for 13th place in 2004 and a tie for
38th place in 2002. With nine holes to play in the 2004 event, Inman
pulled within two
shots of the leader
to become the top
American finisher
in the tournament.
Inman has also
played in several
Buy.com and PGA
Tour events since
1998.
	 Inman is mar-
ried to the former
Patti Arnold from
Rochester, Mich.
They reside in
Durham.

Don Hill enters his seventh year as an assistant coach
for the Tar Heels. His duties include assisting Head Coach
John Inman in the day-to-day operations of the men’s golf
program in addition to his on-course duties as coach and
teacher. Hill joined the men’s golf program after work-
ing one year with UNC’s Rams Club as a graduate intern.
Prior to that, he played on golf mini tours, 1999-2001.
A 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina,
Hill was a member of the men’s golf team (1995, 1997-
99). He was a two-time All-ACC performer and two-time
honorable mention All-America in 1998 and 1999. Hill
helped lead Carolina to 10th-place NCAA finishes in 1997
and 1999. He was the runner-up at the 1998 ACC Champi-
onship, one stroke behind Clemson’s Charles Warren, and
finished 10th at the 1999 NCAA Championship. Hill posted
13 top-10 fin-
ishes during
his four-year
collegiate ca-
reer and 23
top-25 fin-
ishes. He
posted a 72.88
stroke average
in 1997-98 and
a 73.03 aver-
age in 1998-
99.
	 Since be-
coming Caro-
lina’s assistant
coach, the Tar
Heels have
won eight
tournaments,
including the
ACC Champi-
onship in 2006 and the Maryland Intercollegiate in the fall
of 2009, and five Tar Heels have captured seven individ-
ual championships. Hill has coached three All-Americas,
Martin Ureta in 2005 and 2006, Dustin Bray in 2002-04
and Kevin O’Connell in 2008.
“Don has done an excellent job in his seven years with
our program,” said Inman. “His recruiting ability has de-
veloped year after year and he has played a major role
bringing in the great players that are on our team today.
Don has a great future in coaching and I am very proud to
be able to work with him.”
Hill, from Mount Olive, N.C., and a four-year golf
standout at Southern Wayne High School, graduated from
Carolina with a degree in communications.
Coach Don Hill working with unior Henry Zaytoun III
Glenn Heer is in his first year as manager of the golf
team. A native of High Point, N.C., he is a freshman at
Carolina.
Heer started playing golf in ninth grade and lettered
all four years at High Point Central High School. He is
a two-time individual regional qualifier in the N.C. 4A
High School Championship, finishing sixth his junior
year shooting 79. Heer earned Eagle Scout at age 13.
While at Carolina, Heer qualified for the club golf
team during the fall and competed in the National Club
Golf Tournament. His low tournament round is 73, shot
in the final round of Holly Ridge Charity Classic. He
holds an annual Captain’s choice tournament to benefit
stem cell research.

Sports Medicine
The Tar Heels receive excellent care from one of the country’s best sports
medicine staffs. Dr. Mario Ciocca, Director of Sports Medicine, oversees a
comprehensive program designed to keep student-athletes healthy and to reha-
bilitate any injuries quickly and successfully. Dr. Tom Brickner is the physi-
cian who works directly with the men’s golf team, Tim Taft is their orthopaedic
surgeon while Scott Oliaro serves as the team’s trainer.
Strength and Conditioning
Under the direction of the UNC Olympic sports strength and conditioning
staff, Tar Heel student-athletes get outstanding coaching intended to help max-
imize their physical potential. The staff evaluates Carolina student-athletes in
a variety of ways, including the use of specialized software for lifting and run-
ning video analysis, to encourage steady progress toward reaching optimum
preparation for competition.
The men’s golf team trains at the Olympic sports weight room in Kenan
Field House. In addition to top-of-the-line strength equipment, the center
boasts a five-lane, 25-yard rubberized surface for teaching and performing
warm-up activities, acceleration drills and agility movements. Year-round
training produces athletes who are prepared to compete successfully and safe-
ly.
Greg Gatz is the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports
and oversees the program along with Steve Gisselman, who serves as Assistant
Director of Strength and Conditioning and works with the men’s golf team.

  • 6. Page 4 • 2009-10 North Carolina Men’s Golf Media Guide 2010 Preview • Carolina Men’s Golf Coming off a fall season that includ- ed a first-place finish at the Maryland Intercollegiate, the University of North Carolina men’s golf team hopes to build upon its confidence and play consistent golf this spring. “That win at Maryland was big. It was a lot of fun,” Inman said. “I’m pleased that we did get that win under our belt and know that we are capable of winning golf tournaments. That’s what we’re here to do. We didn’t play as well last year so to start off the year with a win was a great boost for the year. We can’t rest on that because we have a lot of great tournaments with strong fields.” Despite the big win, the Tar Heels found themselves struggling to play consistently in the middle of their fall schedule, but a solid finish at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate marked the end of a successful fall season. The Tar Heels will depend on se- niors David Holzworth and Chase Mac- Farland to provide leadership and expe- rience this spring. Fifth-year senior Chase MacFarland, of Savannah, Ga., aver- aged 74.78 strokes last season in 23 rounds of play. He tied for second with teammate Matt Raudenbush at the Dogfight at Ford’s Colony in the fall of 2008 for his best finish of the season and in the spring he tied for 15th at the ACC Championships. Inman hopes that MacFarland will have a consistent spring season and finish his career with strong post-season play. “Chase is probably one our most talented ball strikers. Being a fifth year senior, he has a lot of experience,” In- man said. “He needs to improve his putting and we’re going to work on that in the offsea- son. He’s had some of our best finishes in the ACC Championship and NCAA Regionals the last couple of years. That’s the time of the year he’s playing his best.” Fellow senior Da- vid Holzworth will pro- vide consistent putting for the Tar Heels. The Chapel Hill native con- tributed to the Tar Heels’ win at Maryland last fall and Inman is confident he will contrib- ute to the team this spring. “He’s very talented, probably the best putter on the team,” Inman said. “When he is on, he really adds a lot to our team. We need him to really be focused and ready to play every week.” Junior Henry Zaytoun III, a native of Raleigh, N.C., got a huge boost of confidence after having a successful fall campaign. He captured his first col- legiate individual title as co-champion of the Maryland Intercollegiate. After failing to score below 70 last season, Zaytoun recorded four rounds in the 60s this fall. “Henry has really improved all as- pects of his game. He’s much more con- fident on the golf course, shooting a lot of under-par scores,” Inman said. “He’s had it well under par in many rounds. He’s a great scorer and he’s definitely one of our cornerstones.” Kevin O’Connell, a junior from Cary, N.C., has already proven that he is one of the most consistent golfers on Inman’s squad. Twenty-five of his 30 rounds counted toward the team total last season and with a 19th place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional, he brings great post-season experience to the team and dedication to the sport. His 72.23 average was the team’s lowest last season and O’Connell recorded nine rounds under par, the most on the team. Despite his past successes, O’Connell strug- gled last fall and hopes to rebound in the spring season. “Kevin has been our most consistent player over the last cou- ple of years, but he struggled with his swing last fall,” Inman said. “He’s really going to work on getting his confidence back and hit- ting fairways. An incredible competitor, he never gives up. I ex- pect him to be ready to play.” Durham native Philip Chauncey rounds out a talented junior class. Chauncey captured an individual title at the Duke Coca-Cola Individual Collegiate in the fall of 2008 and played well in the first half of the 2009-10 sea- son. “Philip has become a much more consis- tent player. Through our nine or ten rounds he did not shoot over 74 in qualify- ing. He’s very consistent in all aspects of the game. I think he just needs to Henry Zaytoun III Michael McGowan Kevin O’Connell
  • 7. 2009-10 North Carolina Men’s Golf Media Guide • Page 5 Carolina Men’s Golf • 2010 Preview believe in himself. When he putts well, he shoots good scores. So we’re going to focus on the putter in the offseason,” Inman said Jack Fields was an instant contributor in his freshman season and continued to pace the Tar Heels last fall. Fields averaged 73.48 strokes last season and recorded four rounds in the 60s. Coming off a summer win at the Carolinas Amateur and a tie for second place at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in the fall, Inman hopes Fields’ confidence will lead to a successful season. “Jack is probably one of the most talented players I’ve seen in a long time. When his confidence is up he shoots 63,” Inman said. “He shoots some of the lowest rounds I’ve ever seen. I know he wants to play professional golf, he wants to play at the next level and so he’s going to be working hard in the off season to build on a good fall, a really solid fall.” Sophomore Patrick Barrett will look to contribute more to the squad this season. Barrett played well as an individual last sea- son, winning the Dogfight at Ford’s Colony and averaging 73.90 strokes per round, but only counted three rounds to the team total. Barrett recorded the lowest round last season, a 64 at the Dogfight. In- man is optimistic that Barrett, a na- tive of Pinehurst, N.C., will be a strong contributor this spring. “Patrick is a young man who can shoot incredibly low scores, but has struggled keeping the ball in the fair- way,” Inman said. We’re going to re- ally focus on get- ting the ball on the fairway and then I think we’ll see some good things out of Patrick.” Matt Raudenbush, from Pine Valley, N.J., did not compete this fall, but Inman believes that the hard-working sophomore will see payoff for his dedication to his game this spring. Raudenbush av- eraged 74.70 strokes last season and tied for second place at the Dogfight at Ford’s Colony. “Matt is one of the hardest workers on the team. He hits the ball a long way. He just needs to really learn to score consistently. He does many things well, but just putting it all together is the key for Matt,” Inman said. Freshman Michael McGowan did not have to wait long to con- tribute to a Tar Heel victory. McGowan finished in a tie for fifth place at the Maryland Intercollegiate, the second-best finish in the Tar Heels’ victory. “Michael is one of the fastest players I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t spend a lot of time worrying about things. He just gets up and hits the shot,” Inman said. “He has a great mindset for the game. He doesn’t let things bother him. An extremely talent- ed scorer, even if he’s not play- ing well he still finds a way to get it done. I love his game.” Fellow fresh- man Clark Palm- er, from Augusta, Ga., is still trying to tune up his game, but Inman expects him to contribute this spring. “Clark is ex- tremely talented. We’re just trying to get the right driver in his hand to get him back on track,” Inman said. “I think he just needs to build his confidence and have some good scores in qualifying and really get in the mix. He didn’t play as well as he would have liked last fall, but we’re only halfway through the year.” This year’s squad is a good mix of experience and youth. In- man is excited about the talented group that is already achieving at a high level. If three or four players can hit their stride at the same time the Tar Heels will be a force, he predicts. Inman hopes the team can start the spring season off the same way they kicked off the fall, with a big win that will create momen- tum for a successful season. “Everything builds toward the ACC Championships and the NCAA Tourna- ment. We want to be playing consistently coming into the ACC Tournament,” Inman said. “I think it’s go- ing to be a wide-open field this year. There’s a lot of good teams, but I think we have the talent to go back and grab that ACC Cham- pionship.” Jack Fields Chase MacFarland David Holzworth

Page 6 • 2009-10 North Carolina Men’s Golf Media Guide Order of Merit • Carolina Men’s Golf The Carolina Order of Merit was established in 1991 by the University of North Carolina Department of Athletics and Golf Program to honor former players, coaches, administrators and friends who have distinguished them- selves in the game and for their overall contributions to the golf program at the University. The contributions of these individuals have been of paramount importance in the growth of the program at UNC, and they are an integral part of the excellence of one of America’s top collegiate golf programs. The first two inductees, Jim Ferree and Harvie Ward, were inducted in 1991, Chuck Erickson and Bill Williamson were inducted in 1992, Bobby Gal- loway was inducted in 1993, Dot Gunnells and Ed Kenney were the inductees in 1994, John Inman was inducted in 1996, Davis Love III was inducted in 1997, Roger Perry was inducted in 2001, A.E. Finley and the Finley Founda- tion were inducted in 2002, Donna Andrews was inducted in 2003 and Woody Durham was inducted in 2007. The inductions take place at the Executive Cup Golf Tournament each year during the event’s annual banquet. DONNA ANDREWS Donna Andrews, one of Carolina’s top players, now plays on the LPGA Tour. A star on Tar Heel teams, 1986-89, Andrews was selected second-team All-America in 1989. During her collegiate career, she captured one championship, the 1988 Lady Paladin In- vitational. In that span, his teams won five con- ference championships and placed second and fourth in the 1953 and 1960 NCAA Tournaments. Erickson coached three All-Americas, Harvie Ward, Bill Wil- liamson and Bill Thornton, and one NCAA champion, Ward in 1949. Erickson was also Carolina’s athletic director, 1952-1968. During his tenure, the University broke from the Southern Conference and helped form the At- lantic Coast Conference. Finley and the Finley Foundation have been instrumental in all the success of the men’s and women’s golf programs with their generous and loyal support for over 60 years. Finley was largely respon- sible for the original construction of Finley Golf Course which opened in 1949. The Finley Foundation remains an integral part of the A.E. Finley Executive Cup Golf Tournament which is an important part of the tradition of Carolina’s golf program and a fixture on the schedule each year. BOBBY GALLOWAY Bobby Galloway was the fifth inductee into the Order of Merit. Galloway lettered for the Tar Heels in 1959 and 1960 and was captain in 1960 when Carolina won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship. That same year, Galloway was a quarterfinalist at the NCAA Championships and led the Tar Heels to a fourth-place finish. He turned professional in 1964 but not before he won the Winston-Salem City-County Championship on four occasions. He had his best PGA Tour finish in 1965 when he placed 10th at Memphis. Finley Executive Cup remains an important part of the tradi- tion of the Carolina golf program and a fixture on the schedule each year. Formerly the Carolina Executive Cup, this tournament now carries a name to recognize an individual who has meant so much to Tar Heel Golf. In addition to providing funds for the original construction of the golf course and facilities, his estate has donated money for the annual trophy given to the tournament winners and also for the banquet held after the competition. This annual tournament is an opportunity for supporters of Carolina golf to play with past and present Carolina golfers, coaches and University offi- cials. This tournament is more than just a fundraiser; it is a homecoming for former players to renew old acquaintances and establish new friendships. The A. E. Finley Executive Cup, which had its start in 1976, provides vital funds for an endowment from which both golf teams may draw ad- ditional revenue for travel expenses. Since the men’s and women’s teams play national schedules, which take them all across the country to face tough competition, the A. E. Finley Executive Cup is pivotal in helping maintain the Tar Heel program at the top of collegiate golf. The appearances of golfing legend Jack Nicklaus in the 1980, ’81 and ’83 events are highlights of the tournament’s history, as he thrilled all specta- tors and contestants with a clinic he conducted after each tournament. The inaugural Executive Cup in 1976 was played at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C. The tournament was moved to Grandfa- ther Mountain a year later and was played there for one year (1977) before returning to the Country Club of North Carolina for two more years (1978- 79). Beginning in 1980 it was played at UNC’s Finley Golf Course and continued to be played there through 1990. After a four-year stint at the Governors Club (1991-94), the event returned to UNC Finley Golf Course where it is still played today. The 2009 winning team was Jeremy Elliott, Amber Elliott, Neal Harrell, Brad Burris and Sydney Crane. Jeremy Elliott, Amber Elliott and Crane are all former Tar Heel golfers. time All-ACC performer (1982-84) during his four-year career (1981-84) as a Tar Heel. Inman captured five collegiate titles. Besides his NCAA title, he won the ‘83 Augusta College Invitational, ‘82 ACC Tournament, ‘82 Forest Hills Invitational and ‘81 Methodist Invitational. Inman turned professional in 1985 and played on the PGA Tour for 12 years (1987-1998). While playing on the PGA Tour he won the 1987 Provi- dent Classic and the 1993 Buick Southern Open. A native of Greensboro, N.C., Inman is in his 12th year as head coach of the Tar Heels and has already led Carolina to three top-10 NCAA finishes and an ACC Championship. ED KENNEY Ed Kenney served as the head professional at Finley Golf Course and also coached the men’s team during 27 years with the University. He was the head pro at Finley and manager of the pro shop from 1949, the year the course opened, until he retired in 1976. Kenney was the men’s golf coach for 12 years, 1961-1972. His teams won over 71 percent of their matches and finished 12th at the 1962 NCAA Cham- pionship. His 1965 team captured the ACC Champi- onship. Kenney also coached three ACC individual champions. Kenney passed away in 2001, and a men’s golf team award was established in his honor. It encom- passes a player’s attitude, academic and athletic contri- butions. DAVIS LOVE III One of Carolina’s greatest golfers, Davis Love III, now stars on the PGA Tour. As a Tar Heel, Love was a three-time All-America and three-time All- ACC performer (1983-85). He was the ACC Champion in 1984, one of six individual titles he captured during his three-year ca- reer as he led the Tar Heels to 17 team championships. Love was selected to the 1985 Walker Cup team. Love was an immediate star on the PGA Tour as he was named the 1986 PGA Rookie of the Year. Since then he has posted 20 PGA victories including the 1997 PGA Championship. the ’1995 World Cup individual title and the 2008 Children’s Miracle Network Classic. Love has been a five-time member of the World Cup Team (1992-95, 1997), a six-time member of the Ryder Cup Team (1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002, 2004) and a six-time member of The Presidents Cup (1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005). ROGER PERRY Roger Perry is a great friend and supporter of the Carolina golf progam and was inducted into the Order of Merit in 2001. Perry served as chairman of Carolina’s Executive Cup Golf Tournament for three years and was co- chairman of the fundraising campaign for the recent $10 million redesigning and construction of UNC Finley Golf Course and the Chapman Center. Perry, a real estate developer and president of East West Partners Management Company, Inc. in Chapel Hill, has served on numerous local and national fund- raising committees and charities. Perry is a 1971 graduate from Carolina and pres- ently resides in Raleigh. HARVIE WARD One of the most celebrated golfers in Carolina’s history is Harvie Ward. A member of the Tar Heel 1947-1950 golf teams, he was Carolina’s first All-America in 1949 and was the NCAA Champion that same year, defeating Okla- homa’s Bo Winninger, LSU’s Gardner Dickinson and Notre Dame’s Tommy Veech before dispatching Texas’ Morris Williams Jr. in the 36-hole final, 5 and 4. However, he gained national prominence a year earlier when he won the 1948 North and South Ama- teur. A virtual no-name nationally when he entered the tournament, he sent Arnold Palmer and former U.S. Amateur Champion Dick Chapman home before edg- ing international star Frank Stranahan in the 36-hole final, 1-up. Estimated crowds, upwards of 2,000, came to the the famed Pinehurst #2 as fraternity brothers, teammates, coeds and others formed a caravan from Chapel Hill to Pinehurst to cheer the happy-go- lucky Ward on to victory. Ward was the 1950 Southern Conference Champion and following gradu- ation he won the 1952 British Amateur, the 1954 Canadian Amateur and the 1955 and 1956 U.S. Amateurs. A native of Tarboro, N.C., Ward spent much of his life as a businessman and golf pro in California before semi-retiring and moving to Pinehurst. He passed away in September 2004. BILL WILLIAMSON Bill Williamson played on Carolina’s 1951-1953 teams. He had an outstanding season his senior year as he was the runner-up in the NCAA Tournament in 1953. He led the team to a second-place finish that year, the Tar Heels’ first top 20 finish, and was named to the All-America team, becoming Carolina’s second All-America in history. Williamson is a former chairman of Carolina’s Ex- ecutive Cup Golf Tournament and is an active booster of the Tar Heel golf program. In the fall of 2004, the men’s and women’s practice range, greens, etc. were dedicated and named the Williamson Golf Team Practice Facility. A business- man who resides in Charlotte, Williamson was co-chairman of the fundraising campaign for the recent refurbishing of UNC Finley Golf Course. A.E. FINLEY EXECUTIVE CUP Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus’ clinics were a highlight of past Executive Cups.

  • 20. Page 18 • 2009-10 North Carolina Men’s Golf Media Guide After spending 12 years playing on the PGA Tour, John Inman returned home - to his home state and to his alma mater. Entering his 12th year as head coach, Inman continues to bring enthusiasm, pride, and experience to the Tar Heel program. “John Inman is running a first class program at UNC,” says Athletic Director Dick Baddour. “His knowledge of the game and his experience on the PGA Tour make him an exceptional teacher and coach. John has a passion for Carolina and the golf program and his team reflects that passion.” Inman, a native of Greensboro, N.C., and a 1984 graduate of Carolina, came to Chapel Hill from Roswell, Ga., where he lived for nine years while playing on the PGA Tour. Inman turned pro- fessional after he graduated from Carolina and played on the PGA Tour for 12 years (1987-1998). He won two tournaments during his pro career - the 1987 Provident Classic and the 1993 Buick Southern Open. He also posted eight top-10 finishes and 32 top-25 finishes. “I’m enjoying being the head coach at my alma mater,” said Inman. “I look forward to continuing to build our team into con- tenders at the conference and national level. Carolina is one of the top academic institutions and with UNC Finley Golf Course and the Chapman Center, we have some of the finest facilities in the country. It’s thrilling to be a part of it.” Inman brings a plethora of college playing experience to his duties as coach. He was a three-time All-America (1982-84) and three-time All-ACC performer (1982-84) while on the Tar Heel team from 1981-84. He won the NCAA Individual Championship in 1984 and was the recipient of the 1984 Fred Haskins Award as the National Player of the Year. Inman’s score of 17-under-par in the NCAA Championship broke Ben Crenshaw’s NCAA record by two strokes. That record, set at Houston’s Bear Creek Golf World, was tied three times before it was broken in 2000 by Charles How- ell, of Oklahoma State, who fired a 23-under-par score. Inman, a member of the 1984 World Amateur Team and the 1984 Western Amateur Champion, won five tournaments while at Carolina. In addition to the 1984 NCAA Championship, he was the individual medalist at the 1981 Methodist Invitational, the 1982 ACC Tournament, the 1982 Forest Hills Invitational and the 1983 Augusta College In- vitational. While Inman was a member of the Carolina team, the Tar Heels cap- tured 15 team titles, including three ACC champion- ships (1981, 1983 and 1984). They participated in the NCAA Champion- ship in all four of Inman’s years, post- ing three top-10 fin- ishes. Carolina’s top NCAA finish during Inman’s career came in `84 when the team posted a fourth-place finish, the same year he captured the indi- vidual championship. Since taking the helm at Carolina, the Tar Heels have won 14 team championships and eleven players have captured 16 individ- ual titles. Carolina won the ACC Championship in 2006, its 11th in school history, and two Tar Heels captured the ACC individual championship, in 2002 and 2003. When Carolina won the confer- ence title in 2006, Inman became the first person to win the ACC title as a player (1982) and a coach. In addition, Carolina posted a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championship in 2003, 10th- place finishes in 1999 and 2000 and a 17th-place finish in 2002 and 2006. Also, Dustin Bray became the winningest Tar Heel in school history, with seven wins, under Inman’s tutelage. Juniors Kevin O’Connell and Henry Zaytoun III and sopho- more Jack Fields have already reached high marks while playing for Inman. O’Connell was named to the All- ACC team for the sec- ond year last season after a successful campaign that ended at the NCAA Northeast Regional. As a freshman, O’Connell was selected to the All-Freshman Team, All-Region, Third Team All-America, and most notably the ACC Freshman of the Year. Zaytoun cap- tured his first individual title at the Maryland Intercollegiate last fall and Fields has consistently shot low rounds for the Tar Heels. While at Carolina, Inman has honed his game by competing in the New Zealand Open for six years (1999-2004). He carded four top-40 finishes including a tie for 13th place in 2004 and a tie for 38th place in 2002. With nine holes to play in the 2004 event, Inman pulled within two shots of the leader to become the top American finisher in the tournament. Inman has also played in several Buy.com and PGA Tour events since 1998. Inman is mar- ried to the former Patti Arnold from Rochester, Mich. They reside in Durham.
