Stephen Covey  –  Begin with the end in mind… Take a minute and list your current Downline team in one of the three columns below.  As we go through our discussion on “Looking for Leaders” today add the page number next to the name to remind yourself of the new message you will share in one of the formats below. In the  first column  list your Fast Start contenders and any other Downline members you feel you can inspire with a new tactic or message based on what you will learn today. Under  group setting  list your Downlines that are stuck or those that are inconsistent at growing their business with Fast Starts and though title advancements. A two-on-one business review and discussion, could be with the your  Upline, SBDM   Manager  or  Division Manager and you  and a current or potential EUL/SEUL. Avon’s  Sell, Share & Show is our New Representative  Duplicatible System  for success. A Leader is… “Someone who can get a lot of people to do a  “few” things consistently!” To become an effective Unit Leader you must develop skills in the four basic field fundamentals below.  Practice and consistent use of the P.A.T.D. skills will increase your ability to lead by example and enhance your ability to transfer your knowledge to others.  P rospecting   is looking for people to share the Avon earnings and career opportunity.  Based on the minimum requirements identified for Prospecting,  effective Avon prospector engage the prospects into conversation with the expectation of collecting names and numbers for future follow-up. A ppointing/Recruiting   is converting and preparing a prospect to become a Representative or a Unit Leader.  This process includes completion of the contract, training contact 1 and specific training on the Sell, Share and Show system which increases the success rate of our new Representatives. Sales  T raining   is demonstrating, modeling, telling or showing Representatives (in groups or one-on-one) how to complete an assigned task so they can fulfill their roles and responsibilities to the customers. Leadership  D evelopment  is providing varied learning experiences to Representatives enrolled into Sales Leadership (in groups or one-on-one) to help them progress in their career in Avon.  Although “development” as a generic term includes “training”, we are assigning the term “Training” to Representatives and “Development” to Unit Leaders.  Note:  P.A.T.D. are activities that are performed by DVMs, DSMs and Unit Leaders.

Leadership Representative Pasadena – District 1234  Name:  Jane Winters    Agreement Date:  C”/05/11  Campaign 15, 2005 This  New Representative  joined Leadership and got her first recruit in C11.  She met the 3 – performance requirements to earn the Fast Start Bonus in C14, earning $200.  She advanced her title to Unit Leader in C14 and will received her first Leadership Bonus in C15!  Jane’s check is double the size of most first checks because she earned the Fast Start bonus! Jane went from 100% activity in C11 & C12 to 80% in C13 to 85% in C14 and a low of 42% in C15.  I am sure she was focused on getting the Fast Start bonus  and delivering her largest personal order in C15 which affected her follow-up with her Downline.  The success story here is Jane recruited 7 in her first four campaigns and she was able to sell $1,168 in her first five campaigns.  She earned her Avon Pin, achieved Unit Leader, earned the Fast Start Bonus and got her first Avon Check, all in five campaigns! This is the only business that I know, where you can start earning immediately and when you consistently add buyers, sellers and a few recruiters to your business unit, your earnings can double every 90-days! She earns around $800 a month and will earn over $8,641 this year if she remains at the Advanced Unit Leaders level.  With a mentor or a plan to promote herself to Executive Unit Leader, Carol can easily double her earnings by finding the 2 more Unit Leaders she needs to earn at the Executive Unit Leader’s level. Carol has learned how to inspire 60% - 80% of her Downline to send orders every two-weeks.  In C6 she inspired 83% of her team to  submit orders…WOW!  Blockbuster’s Video would have to rent 4,284 DVD’s in two week to match the  $17,085 in sales like Carol’s Downline! Gwen has trained her Downline to generate over $50,000 a month in Avon sales and she has figured out how to get 80% of her Downline to submit orders every two-weeks, this is a sign of a strong leader. Gwen also earned $5,310 from her Downline between C6 – C12 (90-days) that’s about $758 a month in Leadership Bonuses. As we go through our discussion on “Looking for Leaders” today add the page number next to the name to remind yourself of the new message you will share in one of the formats below. In the first column list your Fast Start contenders and any other Downline members you feel you can inspire with a new tactic or message based on what you will learn today. Under group setting list your Downlines that are stuck or those that are inconsistent at growing their business with Fast Starts and though title advancements. A two-on-one business review and discussion, could be with the your Upline, SBDM Manager or Division Manager and you and a current or potential EUL/SEUL. This column is reserved for those highly motivated members who are willing to consistently work on growing their business. (Share your complete list with your Upline or Managers.)   • 4. A Leader is… “Someone who can get a lot of people to do a “few” things consistently!” To become an effective Unit Leader you must develop skills in the four basic field fundamentals below. Practice and consistent use of the P.A.T.D. skills will increase your ability to lead by example and enhance your ability to transfer your knowledge to others. P rospecting is looking for people to share the Avon earnings and career opportunity. Based on the minimum requirements identified for Prospecting, effective Avon prospector engage the prospects into conversation with the expectation of collecting names and numbers for future follow-up. A ppointing/Recruiting is converting and preparing a prospect to become a Representative or a Unit Leader. This process includes completion of the contract, training contact 1 and specific training on the Sell, Share and Show system which increases the success rate of our new Representatives. Sales T raining is demonstrating, modeling, telling or showing Representatives (in groups or one-on-one) how to complete an assigned task so they can fulfill their roles and responsibilities to the customers. Leadership D evelopment is providing varied learning experiences to Representatives enrolled into Sales Leadership (in groups or one-on-one) to help them progress in their career in Avon. Although “development” as a generic term includes “training”, we are assigning the term “Training” to Representatives and “Development” to Unit Leaders. Note: P.A.T.D. are activities that are performed by DVMs, DSMs and Unit Leaders.

  1. Share Stephen Covey’s quote and that you want the participants to begin with the end in mind by recording the names of their current downline members in one of the three columns. Ask them to think about where they are with the strategies, especially Leadership and consider the amount of time they have already given their current downline members. Ask them to determine if they have the will and skills to be a more successful Leader, if yes, they should be placed in one of the columns for a new business discussion, following this session. They should plan to work with the one's they’ve not had time to influence yet and the new and established one's that are in pursuit of the Fast Start Program.   2. Share that their ability to develop successful New Representatives is critical to our success. We have found that successful Avon Representative do three things, they maintain a high level of personal sales , both to qualify for their annual sales positions of achievement and to be a role model for their Downline (Stress this is the first statement in the “assumption sell, that all new appointments will sell, share and show their way to success.) They share – Avon’s Opportunity with others an immediately begin to build a Downline to increase and secure their earnings. They show – others how to sell Avon’s beauty and personal care products. They teach others how to interest prospects in Avon’s Opportunities. And they show others how to train, mentor and motivate other Representatives—in other words they duplicate their own success in others. Note to DVM: Facilitate a discussion on the appropriate words to use to transition all new appointments into the sell share show process at the time of the appointment, using an assumption close. Help DSMs/Reprs understand that they must update how they start new recruits, by not giving them a choice to sell or recruit but to sell and share their way to success.   3. We are looking for leaders, today! Avon is looking to add immediately 20,000 more leaders to our organization across the US. That’s about 275 more per Division or about 15 more per district. This page explains the three requirements that must be meet every campaign for each level. As you know, we have four level of achievement, UL, ADV UL, EXUL and SEUL. All four levels have three requirements for title achievement. The three requirements are personal sales, minimum active Downline members and total unit sales volume. Let’s take a closer look at this grid and make sure we understand where the real money is for those who share Avon with others. Ask all untitled attendee to stand as you review the requirements to title in 90-days. After you review the requirements, ask what would prevent them from advancing their title in 90-days. Then ask all of the UL to stand as you read the requirements to advance to AUL…do the same as above. Then to the same with the AUL when you read the EUL requirement… Note: The objective here is to paint a picture of “Why Avon Can Be The Company For You” when you achieve EXUL status. Facilitate a discussion on the difference between earning as a UL vs. as an EXUL. Focus on the number of active recruits, generations and the % of pay earned at each level. Gain commitments from everyone to advance their titles in 90-days by taking massive action, now! Answer questions and check for clarity before moving on…. Transition with, now let’s look at the requirements to earn Leadership bonus checks in a more inspirational way.
  6. On the previous page we discussed the requirements to earn bonus checks every two weeks. Now we will take that same information and translate it into words that inspire and persuade others to commit to new actions. As we go through this discussion, ask yourself what do you want to earn in the next 90 days and what are willing to do to earn it? Note to DVM: Share that all four levels earn on the first generation. The Leadership bonuses are based on how well the Downline members are trained in their first four campaigns. The more time spent on developing customers and customer’s average orders the higher the bonuses will be. Also, note that the payout levels are the same for EXUL and SEUL’s. To keep it simple, this illustration is base on a new Representative’s first four campaigns net of 50%. Ask the participants how much time they spend appointing a new recruit, how much time do they spend on average on training contact 2? Most will say about and hour. Well, let’s remember that effective leaders do the right things so that they can spend a little time with a lot of people. In this illustration, you can earn either $1.50 an hour for appointing or training a Downline member who send in a $100 order. When you train your Downline to sell $600 or more you will earn either $21.84 as a UL or $37.44 as a EXUL for an hour contact, which would you prefer? Stress difference at the UL vs. EXUL earnings levels on $625 orders. Stress importance of developing customers list and average order in the first four campaigns.
