The New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (Board) licenses dental radiologic technologists in the State of New Jer-
sey. The Board recognizes DANB’s Radiation Health & Safety (RHS) examination as equivalent to its licensing examination in dental
radiography. This insert to the 2009 DANB CDA Exam Candidate Guide describes the eligibility, application, and fee requirements
for the examination, and the requirements for obtaining a dental radiologic technology license in New Jersey.

A. New Jersey State Requirements
To be eligible for a dental radiologic technology license in New Jersey, candidates must:
(1) Successfully complete at least a high school-level education in the United States or its equivalent (such
as a G.E.D. or foreign education that has been evaluated and deemed to be equivalent); AND
(2) Be of good moral character; AND
(3) Successfully complete a New Jersey Board-approved dental radiography program or its equivalent as
determined by the Board; AND
(4) Pass the national DANB Radiation Health & Safety exam (as a stand-alone exam or as part of
DANB’s national Certified Dental Assistant [CDA] exam) or pass the New Jersey Dental
Radiologic Technology exam; AND
(5) Apply for licensure to the State of New Jersey Bureau of Radiological Health.

cation. Cash will not be accepted. For exam fee requirements,

Applications for computerized exams may be submitted at any
time; applications for written exams must be postmarked by the
application deadline. All application materials must be submitted
to DANB at the address on the front cover of this insert.
C. Exam Fees
Radiation Health and Safety Exam Total Fee: $150
(includes $100 exam fee and $50 nonrefundable application fee)
The total fee of $150 must be paid to DANB with the initial
exam application.
D. Written and Computerized Exams
Written Exam: Written exam test centers, dates, and application
deadlines are listed in the 2009 DANB Written Exam Candidate
Guide.
Computerized Exam: DANB contracts with a national computer-
ized testing vendor to deliver the RHS Exam on computer. The
computerized sites are listed in the 2009 DANB Computerized
Exam Candidate Guide. Computerized testing allows candi-
dates more flexibility in scheduling dates and times. There are
no specific computerized exam dates or application deadlines.
DANB cannot guarantee the availability of specific test center
locations or times. To facilitate a time/location convenient to
your schedule, call the testing vendor promptly after receiving
your Test Admission notice from DANB.
