Rights and Responsibilities of Employees in Romania

Employment in Romania is based on a written contract that generally has no time limit, though work experience is only considered if a contract existed. The minimum employment age is 16 but 15 is allowed with parental consent. Regular full-time workers work 40 hours per week over 8 hours daily, with holidays and rest periods defined by law, while those under 18 can only work 30 hours weekly over 6 hours daily and without extra hours. Employees must be paid at least the government minimum monthly and can demand compensation for missed pay.
