4. The Food Team works to promote Eastern Ontario as a
location for companies involved in the production
and processing of foods, such as:
» Dairies and Cheese makers
» Bakeries and Frozen Bread/Pastries
» Agriculture and Grain Processing
» Meat Processing
» Dry and Processed Food
» Artisan Sauces and others

of an economy, people still
need to eat
• Certain food sectors
(organic, fancy foods) are
showing strong growth

6. • Ontario East is a good fit for food processing:
• Connects three large markets
• Good network of highways
• Good labour
• R & D facilities
• Access to raw material
• Excellent secondary linkages

7. In our region, we have strong clusters of food
processing:
• Kelloggs (Belleville)
• Burnbrae Farms (Brockville)
• Lyreco (Kingston)
• PepsiCo (Peterborough)
• over 300 companies and counting

8. The Food Team is working to bring more food processing
and related companies to Eastern Ontario
• Several trade shows each year
• Outreach to MEDT, AgFood Canada and
Consulates
• Lead Generation Efforts

• We are updating a directory of all
food companies in Eastern Ontario
• Working with the logistics team to
map company activities

10. The Food Team is very active, participating in
several world-class trade shows:
• Winter Fancy Food Show – San Francisco
• CRFA Show – Toronto
• SIAL – Toronto
• Summer Fancy Food Show – New York

12. Everybody has to eat. They might as well get their
food from Eastern Ontario.
