Open Source
• GENIVI has moved former member projects into
the open source and invites all interested parties
to participate in building the code
• As of today, 17 open source projects are hosted
by GENIVI on http://projects.genivi.org/ and many
others are coming
• Either develop by members (IVI Layer
Management, Lifecycle Management, etc.)
• Or by Third Parties like Ford, that chose GENIVI to
host their Smart Device Link project

Open Source Software can be produced in many ways. One of them is to build a company that will lead and finance the development of the Open Source Software. Most of such companies have raised capital and are using the "Open Core" business model. This talk aims to present the way XWiki has evolved over the last 12 years, without raising capital and without restraining it's licence, reaching 1,5 MEuros of revenues in the competitive space of collaboration and information management software, contributing year after year to all it's production as Open Source Software. The XWiki Software is now being used around the world by thousands of organizations. We will go through the ways this was achieved, the way we were helped, the difficulties we had and the way we managed them, the lessons we learned over time and how we believe we can continue to grow in the future while staying an "Open" company.

The overall vision is to transform government into a transparent and effective organization with institutions and services that empower its workforce, the citizens, and the private sector by responding to their needs and aspirations. In addition, to create sustainable and open infrastructures that activate the triple helix and produce value for the local community. During the talk the open source wiki ( https://diadikasies.gr ) which is operated by GFOSS and contains information about the public services / procedures in Greece, will be showcased. The wiki is based on the Open Source MediaWiki package and uses the european models CPSV and CPOV.

NUBOMEDIA is the first cloud platform specifically designed for hosting interactive multimedia services. Its architecture is based on media pipelines: chains of elements providing media capabilities such as encryption, transcoding, augmented reality or video content analysis. These chains allow building arbitrarily complex media processing for applications. As a unique feature, from the point of view of the pipelines, the NUBOMEDIA cloud infrastructure behaves as a single virtual super-computer encompassing all the available resources of the underlying physical network. Thanks to this, NUBOMEDIA applications can elastically scale and adapt to the required load preserving Quality of Service (QoS) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) guarantees. NUBOMEDIA mission is to democratize interactive multimedia communication services by making their creation, deployment and mass-scale exploitation a cheap, rapid and effortless process. To achieve this, we use a strategy composed of two axes. First, NUBOMEDIA exposes its capabilities through a simple to use and intuitive API that can be used by non-expert developers on most popular client platforms such as smartphones and WWW browsers. Second, the NUBOMEDIA infrastructure is released using a flexible and attractive Free Open Source Software license guaranteeing openness and neutrality.

In this session, discover connected vehicle innovations being driven by GENIVI, the nonprofit industry alliance driving open source and open technology standards for connected vehicles. The GENIVI RVI platform provides a foundation for bi-directional vehicle communications – for example, vehicle data (i.e. low fuel level) can be communicated to the GENIVI RVI server, analytics performed (determine closest gas station) and a message delivered back to the vehicle (directions to gas station). In combination with the Hortonworks Connected Data Platform (Apache Hadoop and NiFi) vehicle data can be seamlessly ingested, analyzed and stored leveraging a 100% open source solution. This session will culminate by outlining a new initiative being undertaken by the City of Las Vegas and GENIVI to integrate connected vehicles into the city’s emerging Smart City landscape, creating the Smart Transportation Infrastructure of the Future. BACKGROUND: On January 13th, 2017, The GENIVI Alliance and Nevada Center for Advanced Mobility announced an In-Vehicle Communication Pilot Project to Increase Awareness for Pedestrian Safety and Assist Traffic Flow in Las Vegas. In-Vehicle Communications Technology will be Deployed to Help Improve Vehicle-to-Pedestrian Awareness on High-Traffic and Multi-Modal Corridors. The most notable impact of using SW in the automotive domain is the decrease in fatalities as ADAS functions are more widely employed. On the other hand, SW complexity has seen an almost exponential growth reaching about 100 million lines of code. Hardly any organization can tackle this challenge alone. The Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Working Group ’s mission is to foster collaboration across industries to create an open technology platform for the software defined vehicle of the future. The working group community driven by its 40 member organization has chosen a “code first” approach to facilitate more agile and faster time-to-market software development. After its formation about a year ago, the SDV WG has onboarded about 20 open source projects and is working on integrating several projects together to create “blueprints”. The frameworks emerging from these initial blueprints show the potential and benefits of utilizing different projects as components to build broader solutions to address more complex problems This contribution introduces the SDV WG and Community, as well as its projects and capabilities.
