Oracle announces the winners for Data Modeling 2010 international project contest

For the 5th year in the row, Romanian Schools have received the first 2 places, while China managed to
come third. The winning projects are:

All students from the three teams have received scholarships for $1.000 USD and $250 USD, according
to the location.

21. How Can Success Be achieved – ThinkQuest Competition
Students from Romania Take Top Honors in the ThinkQuest International Competition 2011

More than 33,000 participants from 52 countries tested their skills on
a global stage in the largest ThinkQuest International Competition to
date. Winning teams were selected from among 7,603 teams. Countries
represented by winners include China, Great Britain, Greece, India,
Indonesia, Maldives, Moldova, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Romania,
Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and the United States
•The teams had approximately eight months to define a problem and present a solution. An international
panel of volunteer judges reviewed the entries and selected 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners within three
age divisions for each event.
• The Romanian team called EcoFighters, was awarded 3rd Place in the Application Development event,
22 and under age division. The entry, a city-simulation game, addressed environment and green issues
by teaching players how a community can make better environmental choices. Six local students, Alin,
Andrei, Anatolie, Cosmin, Ioan and Radu from Liceul Grigore Moisil din Timisoara and Universitatea de
Vest din Timisoara in Romania and Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara in Moldova.

Acest lucru se explica in principal prin faptul ca Oracle a deschis in Romania un numar mare de centre care asigura suportul preponderent pe zona financiar-economica si in proportie mai scazuta pe zona tehnica acoprind teritorial in principal tarile din Europa - Orientul Mijlociu - Africa iar in unele cazuri chiar la nivel global. Astfel, locurile de munca cu profil economic cu functiuni de tipul: Analist servicii client, Analist financiar, Consilier economic, Reprezentant tehnic comercial sunt prezente in proportie de 58% in cadrul organizatiei, fiind completate de 40% reprezentand posturi cu profil tehnic cu incadrari de Consultant in informatica, Inginer software, Proiectant sistem informatic, Administrator baze de date si doar 2% de profil umanist ce se regasesc in functii de tipul: Consilier juridic, Analist resurse Umane, Traducator, Formator. Intr-un numar semnificativ de cazuri, absolventii unor facultati cu profil tehnic sunt interesati si de locuri de munca cu profil economic, beneficiind in acest fel atat de o dezvoltare a cunostintelor intr-o paleta mai larga de competente decat cea oferita de facultatea absolvita, cat si de acumularea de experienta in industria de IT tinand cont de profilul de software al companiei.
Odata cu intrarea Romaniei in Uniunea Europeana am observat intensificarea interesului candidatilor din Europa si in special din Asia pentru pozitii din cadrul Oracle Romania. Deschiderea internationala pe care o ofera Oracle a determinat ca un procent de 6% din totalul angajatilor sa fie provenit din afara tarii, fiind persoane fie de alta nationalitate, fie romani care au lucrat in strainatate o perioada de timp si care au fost interesati sa se reintoarca in tara. De asemenea Republica Moldova a fost intotdeauna o piata deschisa pentru noi in ceea ce priveste vorbitorii de limba rusa.
Oracle investeste foarte mult in tineri si in dezvoltarea acestora iar profilul angajatului cautat de Oracle se regaseste de aceea foarte bine in tinerii absolventi sau cei ce au acumulat doar o minima experienta in munca. Acest lucru este foarte bine evidentiat prin faptul ca peste 80% dintre cei ce aplica pentru un loc de munca in Oracle au o experineta de pana in 5 ani. Ponderea foarte mare a oamenilor tineri in companie este relevata si de faptul ca 60% dintre angajati se regasesc in intervalul de varsta 20-29 ani demonstrand prin aceasta deschiderea companiei de a oferi o sansa in dezvoltarea carierei celor ce nu au avut ocazia sa acumuleze inca experienta.
