1. Oliver Cromwell
• He was born on April 27 of 1599
and died on September 3 of
1658.
• When Oliver was 18 his father
died and he had little money and
a large family to look after. He
had to sell the land and rent a
cheaper farm.
• In 1630 he became a Puritan.
• An uncle left a large house and
estates, He became a wealthy
genleman.
2. • 1640-42 He was elected MP
for Cambridge.
• 1642-47 Took place a civil
war and Cromwell had his
own troop and paid for it
himself. He had no military
experience,but he became a
good commander.
• 1647-49 He was part of the
New Modern Army, He tried
to reach a settlement with
Charles I but he started the
Second Civil War. Charles
was taken to trial and
excecuted.
3. • 1649-51 He defeated the
Irish rebels and the
Scots. And brought
Ireland and Scotland
under English control.
• 1649-1653 England was
ruled by the Rump
parliament ,they also tried
to reduce the size and
power of the army
because the nobles and
gentry were fed up with
paying taxes to support
the army.Oliver Cromwell
became Lord protector
and he ruled until his
death.
