National
Safety Month
Courtesy of Pin Mart
Introduction
 National Safety
Month was first
established in 1996
by the National
Safety Council to
increase the
awareness of safety
and decrease the
number of
unintentional injuries
and deaths.
Focuses for the Month
 Each week of June is
dedicated to a safety
issue in which you can
help spread the
awareness of the
following safety issues:
 Preventing prescription
drug abuse.
 Stopping slips, trips, and
falls.
 Being aware of your
surroundings.
 Distracted driving.
 Summer safety.
Prevent Prescription Drug
Abuse
 According to the
National Safety Council,
unintentional drug
overdoses have caused
more deaths than motor
vehicle accidents to
those that are 35-54 years
old.
 This week is dedicated to
help spread the
awareness of how you
can prevent injuries and
death by spreading the
risks of prescription drug
abuse.
Stopping Slips, Trips, and Falls
 There are many ways
that you can help
prevent these
occurrences.
 Having a well-maintained
floor that is clean can
help prevent slipping,
tripping, and falling
hazards.
 Make sure that your
employees are always
aware of their
surroundings at all times.
Being Aware of Your
Surroundings
 Whether you are at
work or at home, or
anywhere else for that
matter, you should
always be aware of
your surroundings.
 Dedicate this week to
let your peers know the
importance of being
aware of your
surroundings at all
times to prevent any
type of injury.
Preventing Distracted Driving
 People should never use
a cell phone while
driving, whether it is
talking without a hands-
free device or texting
while driving.
 You are four more times
likely to get into a car
accident when using a
cell phone while driving,
so it is facts like that you
can tell others in order to
prevent these types of
accidents from
happening.
Summer Safety
 In order to enjoy your
summer, there are things
that you and your peers
should do to have the
most enjoyable and
safe summer possible.
 Some things that you
can do include being
safe from the sun by
wearing sunscreen,
keeping yourself
hydrated during the hot
weather months, and
more.
Help Spread Awareness With
Safety Pins!
 Pin Mart can help
you to encourage
employees to be
safe by wearing
our safety pins.
 This can also help
spread awareness
of the importance
of safety in our
environment.
