10. Holderness Council “ We are a small council with a total budget of only £4 million. Spending millions just to protect one village is very hard to justify especially as it isn’t really a tourist hotspot. Many agree that is should be allowed to disappear into the sea”.

11. Ministry of Agriculture - London - “ We are moving towards a policy of managed retreat. This means that towns, roads and villages are safe, but the sea would be allowed to flood back onto land that once used to be salt marsh. We have loaned this land off the sea for the past 200 years and it is now time to give it back”

12. Professor University of Hull “ Low lying farmland should be abandoned the cliffs should be allowed to collapse back into the sea. This cliff material is what helps to build up the coastline further down the coast, and many big towns and cities rely on it for survival”.

13. Farmer living to the south of Mappleton “ My farm is at more risk than ever because of coastal protection works in Mappleton. Cliff erosion is taking place faster than ever before. Within 30 years all of my farm will have disappeared into the sea”
