Mandarin Oriental New York Project
For more than a century, New York-based Port Morris Tile and Marble
Corporation has undertaken interior restoration and design work
encompassing many of the city’s most noted buildings, including St.
Patrick's Cathedral and the Empire State Building. The firm also
contributes its expertise in helping craft the interiors of modern
landmarks, such as the Mandarin Oriental. This five-star hotel, spa,
and dining destination encompasses the top 20 floors of the
prestigious Time Warner Center, at 80 Columbus Circle adjacent to
Central Park.

Port Morris’ contribution to this high profile project involved granite
and marble floor work on the North Tower lobbies and residential
areas, designed in elliptical patterns. Curved walls made of limestone
were anchored by a marble base. The firm also constructed a marble
and granite grand staircase for the hotel ballroom that features an
intricate helicoidal design. Another area of focus involved installing
tiles from a variety of stone, ceramic, and glass materials to create
the aesthetically pleasing Skylobby Spa vitality pools, as well as the
installation of opulent stone benches and sinks.

In completing the Mandarin Oriental project, Port Morris combined its
local fabrication capacities with work coordinated through several
Italian stonework operations.
