Labour inspection is the fully component of labour ministry
(labour department) and Concern about the labour (public
employment) safety and health.

Because:
Labour are the key for any social and economic development.
Labour can create the greater impact on organizational effectiveness

Industrial Safety and Health
Occupational Safety and Health
Since 1950, the ILO and WHO have shared a common
definition of occupational health.
(It was adopted by the Joint ILO/WHO Committee on Occupational
Health at its first session in 1950)



Occupational safety and health(OSH) is concerned
with protecting the safety, health and welfare of
people engaged in employment.
(To foster a safe and healthy work environment)
Employees Welfare




“Employee welfare is a comprehensive term including
various services, benefits and facilities offered to employees
& by the employers. Through such generous fringe benefits
the employer makes life worth living for employees.”
Employees Welfare Measures
Organization should keep their employees attached to
the organization and towards this keep them happy to
the extent possible.

The welfare measures are not rigid. It changes all the
time. Welfare measures are over and above the wages
paid to employees. It Includes:
                          - Improved working conditions
                          - Health care facilities
                          - Insurance for self and family
                          - Recreation facilities
                          - Improved industrial relations and so on.

These measures may not be in the form of monetary benefits.

Welfare Measures are aimed for:
 Keeping the workers happy and satisfied
 To provide better employment life and health to
workers
 Reduce stress situations
 Improve intellectual, Cultural and materials
conditions
** There are reasonable welfare measures available to
employees through statutory provisions. In most cases
collective bargaining helps to improve the degree
of welfare facilities.
The Important Welfare Measures

Housing schemes, medical benefits, education and
recreation facilities for workers’ families help in raising
their standards of living.
(Because the welfare of their families is taken care of
workers pay more attention towards work increasing
their productivity.)
Employees become loyal to the employer. They will
stick on.

They start taking active interest in their jobs and work
with a feeling of involvement and participation.

Employee welfare entails all those activities of employer
which are directed towards providing the employees with
certain facilities and services in addition to wages or salaries.

The very logic behind providing welfare schemes is to create
efficient, healthy, loyal and satisfied labor force for the
organization. And …

The purpose of providing such facilities is to make their work
life better and also to raise their standard of living.

  • 3. Labour Inspection System Labour inspection is the fully component of labour ministry (labour department) and Concern about the labour (public employment) safety and health. Because: Labour are the key for any social and economic development.   • 4. Industrial Safety and Health Occupational Safety and Health Since 1950, the ILO and WHO have shared a common definition of occupational health. (It was adopted by the Joint ILO/WHO Committee on Occupational Health at its first session in 1950) Occupational safety and health(OSH) is concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in employment. (To foster a safe and healthy work environment)
  • 5. Employees Welfare “Employee welfare is a comprehensive term including various services, benefits and facilities offered to employees & by the employers. Through such generous fringe benefits the employer makes life worth living for employees.”
  • 6. Employees Welfare Measures Organization should keep their employees attached to the organization and towards this keep them happy to the extent possible. The welfare measures are not rigid. It changes all the time. Welfare measures are over and above the wages paid to employees. It Includes: - Improved working conditions - Health care facilities - Insurance for self and family - Recreation facilities - Improved industrial relations and so on. These measures may not be in the form of monetary benefits.

Welfare measures are in addition to regular wages and other economic benefits available to workers due to legal provisions and collective bargaining 3. Labor welfare schemes are flexible and ever-changing. New welfare measures are added to the existing ones from time to time. 4. Welfare measures may be introduced by the employers, government, employees or by any social or charitable agency. 5. The logic behind providing welfare schemes is to create efficient, healthy, loyal and satisfied labor force for the organization. Also to raise the employees standard of living and their work life balance.

Welfare Measures are aimed for:  Keeping the workers happy and satisfied  To provide better employment life and health to workers  Reduce stress situations  Improve intellectual, Cultural and materials conditions ** There are reasonable welfare measures available to employees through statutory provisions. In most cases collective bargaining helps to improve the degree of welfare facilities.
  • 13. The Important Welfare Measures Housing schemes, medical benefits, education and recreation facilities for workers’ families help in raising their standards of living. (Because the welfare of their families is taken care of workers pay more attention towards work increasing their productivity.) Employees become loyal to the employer. They will stick on. They start taking active interest in their jobs and work with a feeling of involvement and participation.

At the END … Employee welfare entails all those activities of employer which are directed towards providing the employees with certain facilities and services in addition to wages or salaries. The very logic behind providing welfare schemes is to create efficient, healthy, loyal and satisfied labor force for the organization. And … The purpose of providing such facilities is to make their work life better and also to raise their standard of living.
