As humans, we never fail to think that we are highly intelligent beings, and that we are mentally superior than any other creatures found on Earth.
Well, that...... may be true.
However, we can be equally stupid and dumb too.
Worse still, we don't even realize it - in terms of how we can make erroneous judgments, decisions and choices, based on how our mind processes and filters information, as well as how our belief system works.
As intriguing and exciting this topic is to me, I find it difficult to illustrate the concepts involve, and that took me nearly 6 months to complete this work. (The Planning Fallacy in play?!) Throughout writing this deck, I've made a total of 8 major revisions before coming to this final piece.

What slide dimensions should you use for your presentations?Presentitude
When PowerPoint 2013 came along, the size of the default presentation changed from 4:3 to 16:9. So – what size should you use for your slides? This is a quick guide to choosing the right size – and a brief explanation of the difference between the sizes in different versions of PowerPoint.
Using icons is a great way to add visuals to your presentation. There are many ways to get icons online, some are even free. But if you need a specific icon that you can’t find or if you want a special spin to your icon (color, shadow etc) – you can use PowerPoint’s great (and somewhat hidden) “Merge Shapes” commands to create your own icons.
Using these commands you can combine basic shapes into other shapes. You can union and subtract shapes. You can intersect and combine. All while still working natively inside PowerPoint. Once you have created an icon you can change the color, filling and add shadows as needed.
It is just as fun as building with Lego blocks! Well, almost..
This is a guide in 15 steps showing you how you can use these commands to create your own icon - the example we are using is a calendar icon.
The yearly Presentation Summit conference takes place every fall. It is a four day retreat for all presentation designers alike. luminosity value of 128.
When you decrease
this value (minimum is
000) the color
becomes darker
(shade).
When you increase
this value (maximum is
255) the colors
becomes brighter
(tint).

S: 255
L: 128
(as used in the HSL model used in PowerPoint)

S = 255
L= 000 L= 255L= 128
When saturation is
decreased (minimum is
000) the color is almost
gone and it becomes
desaturated/neutralized)
SATURATION
An original hue is fully
saturated/vibrant and
have a saturation level
of 255 (maximum).
H: 0
S: 255
L: 128
(as used in the HSL model used in PowerPoint)
30. The pure color, hue, can be calculated by giving it a
number between 0 to 255 where pure red has a hue of 0.
H= 0 H= 213H= 170H= 127H= 85
HUE
If you change just the hue value, the new hue will have the
same saturation and luminosity values as the original color.

31. How to create colors with HSL*?
H: 0 85 170 170
S: 255 255 255 0
L: 128 128 128 0
Combine values of a color’s hue,
saturation and luminosity.
Each of the three parts can have a
value in the range from 0 to 255.
(*as used in PowerPoint)

36. The HEX color model
(HEXadecimal)
An extension of the
RGB model but
using hexadecimal
numbers to define
colors for HTML
code.

37. HEX is used
specifically for
online material and
websites and use
combinations of the
primary colors
similar to RGB.

RED
Combine parts of the three primary
colors red, green and blue.
Each of the primary colors can have a
value in the range 00 (minimum) to FF
(maximum) in hexadecimals.

using combinations of HEX values
(Using HEX, “00” is minimum and “80” is the middle and “FF” is max)

41. Why do you need to
know about the different
color models when you
are creating slides?
42. When creating slides you
need to know how to
define RGB colors, how
to utilize the HSL values
to adjust colors to your
advantage and how
brand CMYK values and
web HEX values relate to
the colors you need to
use in PowerPoint.
44. The color of
pigment, paints
and inks, combines
Cyan, Magneta,
and Black,
used for print.
A subset of the RGB
model, expresses
colors in terms of
hue, saturation and
luminosity, used in
PowerPoint.
An extension of the
RGB model using
hexadecimal
numbers to define
colors for HTML
code.
HUE SATURATIONVALUE
The color of lights,
combines Red,
Green and Blue,
mainly used for
screens and used
in PowerPoint.
The pure color. The lightness
(added white) or
darkness (added
black) of a hue.
The intensity of a
hue (also called
chroma).
