First luminous Mystery
      The Baptism in the Jordan
After Jesus was baptized, he came up from
the water and stood there praying; and
 behold, the Heaven was opened.
The Holy Ghost came down upon him like
a dove. And a voice came from Heaven
saying “This is my beloved Son, with whom
 I am well pleased.”
Spiritual fruits: Submission to God’s will.
Gratitude for the gift of Faith.

                                        our baptism
                                        As the Holy Spirit descended
on Jesus at His baptism, so
He descends on us at our
baptism and inspires us to a
                                        loving union with God, and
                                        transforms us with His
                                        supernatural life. We become
                                        new creations.
We are adopted as sons or
                                        daughters of our Heavenly
                                        Father. We too become
                                        heirs.
                                        Awareness of the infinite

7. We die to our old selves
                     Through baptism we die
to our old selves and are
                     born into Christ. To
                     continue our journey we
                     must renew our
                     baptismal promise to die
                     and rise with Christ.
“Do you not know that all of
                      us who have been baptized
                      into Christ were baptized into
                      his death?”–St. Paul

                                                     we are anointed

                             because to be
                             merciful is to

and take it to the master.
                                      Pure water was changed
                                      into excellent wine, to
                                      demonstrate that
                                      lukewarmness and
                                      negligence should give

                                   thus He would remain

                                    This mystery shows us
                                    that Mary, our Mother
                                    is concerned with our

Third Luminous Mystery
    The Proclamation of the Kingdom
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to
Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:
“This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God
is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

Spiritual fruit: Desire for Holiness,
                 Grace of Conversion.
Pope John Paul II suggested that we focus on
Christ’s call to conversion and his
forgiveness.
He fasted for forty

in the Desert to the eternal Father
                  as a satisfaction for
                  the disorder and vice
                  of gluttony.
                  He satisfied the
                  offenses committed
                  through them by the
                  exercises of the
                  virtues contrary to
                  them.
                  In satisfaction for our
                  pride He offered his
                  profound humility;
                  for our avarice, his

                             of God last?
                             We need to reassess
                             our lives often and
                             turn back to God.

3. “ My Kingdom is not of this world .”
“Today the Gospel should be lived with the simplicity of little ones,
with the ardour of martyrs, and with the fidelity of courageous
witnesses; it should be lived to the letter! You are being called to
follow me along the road of heroic and pure faith.” (Gobbi)

Fourth Luminous Mystery
       The Transfiguration
While Jesus was praying His face changed
in appearance and His clothing became
dazzling white. And behold two men were
conversing with Him, Moses and Elijah, who
appeared in glory and spoke of His exodus
that He was going to accomplish in
Jerusalem.

and its beauty; it gives one an inner peak to stand on and an intuitive
sense of the Creator.” (Pope Benedict XVI)

                         This is the preeminent
                         light-giving icon. It is
good for us to look at
                         it and meditate on it.
                         We implore you to

Fifth Luminous Mystery
       The Institution of the Eucharist
 “I am the living bread that came down from
Heaven; whoever eats this bread will live
forever; and the bread that I will give is my
flesh for the life of the world.”

The Holy Eucharist gives us not only grace
but the Author of all grace, Jesus, God and
Man. It is the center of all else the Church
    has and does.
Spiritual fruit: Love of our Eucharistic Lord
1. Institution of the Holy Eucharist
Christ offers his body and blood as food under the signs of
Bread and wine and testifies “to the end” his love for
humanity, for whose salvation he will offer himself in
sacrifice. No one has greater love than He who lays down
his life for those whom He loves.

Leonardo da Vinci, The Last Supper.
2. The Eucharist is the In the Eucharist the
same sacrifice as on sacrifice of Christ
Calvary becomes also the
                          sacrifice of the members
of his Body. The lives of
                          the faithful, their praise,
                          sufferings, prayer, and
                          work are united with
                          those of Christ and with
                          his total offering.

                          to be united with his
                          offering. (Catechism)
3. Bread of life: “I am the living bread that come down from heaven.

Whoever eats of this Bread will have life and I will raise him up on the last
day. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in
him. I am with you always, to the end of the ages.” (in the Eucharist.)

                 thyself in the good dispositions
                 from one Communion to the
other. It is the will of the Lord
and my own, that with this

the Almighty in the name of the

                                                     Christ, and Christ
                                                     receives each of
                                                     us.

                                                     Christ and each of
                                                     his followers.
                                                     The Eucharist thus

Consecration to the Immaculate Heart (Short version)
“ Virgin of Fatima, Mother of Mercy, we who belong to
the Marian Movement, consecrate ourselves in a
special way to your Immaculate Heart. We also
consecrate our motherland (Nation) to your
Immaculate Heart. We intend to live with you, through
you and for you, all the obligations assumed by our
Baptismal consecration to bring about in ourselves
that interior conversion so urgently demanded by the
Gospel, that we may be available only to do always
 the will of the Father.
Allow us to dwell in the garden of your Immaculate
Heart . Lead us to a spiritual renewal with prayer and
penance, with the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary,
the fervent celebration and adoration of the Holy
Eucharist, the practice of Christian virtues, and in the
 works of the apostolate .
Help us to be the disciples of the Marian Movement
to multiply everywhere Cenacles of prayer made with
you for the evangelization of the world, and the Divine
Mercy prayer , for the salvation of the world.
Help us to do everything with you in a spirit
Finally pray one Our Father,
one Hail Mary, and one
Glory be, to the Holy
Father’s intention.

  • 4. First luminous Mystery The Baptism in the Jordan After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and stood there praying; and behold, the Heaven was opened. The Holy Ghost came down upon him like a dove. And a voice came from Heaven saying “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Spiritual fruits: Submission to God’s will. Gratitude for the gift of Faith.
  • 5. 1. John is baptizing in the Jordan The Jordan proclaiming a baptism of repentance. river connects to the stories of Israel’s entry into the Promised land with Joshua, & to Israel’s Crisis and call for renewal by Elijah and Elisha. • 6. 2. Behold the lamb of God. “He should become 2. Behold, the lamb of God. more and more and I should become less and less” He was born on Summer solstice when days become shorter and daylight begins to lessen. He not only preached repentance but also pointed to Christ, the Redeemer. “His voice lasted only for a time; Christ the Word is eternal.” Dieric Bouts, 1415-1475. Ecce Agnus Dei Alte Pinakothek. Munich. Germany. (St. Augustine)
  • 7. 3. St. John the Baptist is a challenging personality. He challenged people to change, and opposed powers of this world. He paid for the truth with his head. Freedom is not the first value. The first value is the Truth. The highest value of all values is Jesus in my life. Peter Rubens, The Feast of Herod, National Gallery of Scotland. Edinburgh.
  • 8. 4. He took on our sins “He allows himself to be numbered among sinners. He is already ‘the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world’. Already he is anticipating the ‘baptism’ of his bloody death.” Jusepe de Rubera. 1643 Naples. Italy. (Cathechism)
  • 9. 5.*The Theophany of our Lord. When you O Lord, were baptized in the Jordan, the worship of the Trinity was made manifest. Through baptism we all enter into an awareness of this great mystery that God is three, and yet one. How to pray with icons. By Miroslaw Tataryn
  • 10. 6. The Holy Spirit at our baptism As the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus at His baptism, so He descends on us at our baptism and inspires us to a loving union with God, and transforms us with His supernatural life. We become new creations. We are adopted as sons or daughters of our Heavenly Father. We too become heirs. Awareness of the infinite love of God for us fulfills the “ I have baptized you with water. He deepest longings of our will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” heart. “Live in Love”
  • 11. 7. We die to our old selves Through baptism we die to our old selves and are born into Christ. To continue our journey we must renew our baptismal promise to die and rise with Christ. “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ were baptized into his death?”–St. Paul How are we to continue to bury sin in our lives?
  • 12. 8. Wash at the fountain “Go and wash at the fountain! Wash yourselves at the spring of living water which flows from the pierced Heart of my son Jesus, through the sacrament of reconciliation. • 13. 9. The Holy Spirit descends on Him to invest Him with the mission which he is to carry out. In our baptism we are anointed as Christians. This means we are followers of Christ. • 14. 10. In this heavenly manifestation is instituted the sacrament of baptism. Invocation of the Holy Spirit: Principal agent of evangelization. “Come, Holy Spirit! Fill the hearts of the (National) people and enkindle in them the fire of your love! Come by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, your well-beloved Spouse.” Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
  • 17. Second Luminous Mystery The Marriage Feast at Cana. On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there… When the wine ran short Mary said to Him, “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother told the servers, “Do whatever He tells you.” Spiritual fruit: Fidelity Devotion to Mary
  • 18. 1. Wedding Feast at Cana. Paolo Veronese, The Marriage at Cana, 1562. Museum of Louvre. Paris
  • 19. 2. Here the supply of wine failed. Gerard David, Marriage at Cana. Early 16th century.
  • 20. 3.** The Mother of Jesus said to Him: They have no wine left. This scene is an example of “Mary’s solicitude for human beings, her coming to them in the wide variety of their wants and needs”, and her role in “bringing those needs to Christ.” (Pope John Paul II)
  • 21. 4. The Mother of Jesus said to Him: They have no wine left. “It is a quality of mercy to regard another’s distress as one’s own, because to be merciful is to have a heart distressed at the distress of another.” (St. Thomas Aquinas)
  • 22. 5. Mary said to the waiters: “Do whatever He tells you.” “It is an exhortation to trust without hesitation, especially when one does not understand the meaning or benefit of what Christ asks.” (Pope John Paul II) Marten de Vos 1603, Vrouwe-kathedraal. Antwerp.
  • 23. 6. Jesus bids the waiters to fill the jars with water, and then draw some out and take it to the master. Pure water was changed into excellent wine, to demonstrate that lukewarmness and negligence should give place to love and zeal. Am I aware that my life should be completely changed by the presence of Christ from water into wine? Byzantine icon. Fresco in St. Seraphim Orthodox Cathedral. Dallas. Texas
  • 24. 7. The Divine Banquet is always bountiful: Jesus made so much wine that not a village in Galilee is large enough to consume all the wine made that day. Mary shows us how Jesus responds to the power of faith, hope and love. Mattia Preti, The Marriage at Cana. 1613. National Gallery. London
  • 25. 8. The master said to the groom: “Everyone serves the good wine first…but you have saved the good wine until now.” At the last supper, He would change bread and wine into His Flesh and Blood, and thus He would remain with them until the end, to strengthen and console them. Paolo Veronese, The Marriage at Cana, 1562. Louvre Museum. Paris.
  • 26. 9. A wonderful mother "In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name leave thy lips, never suffer it to leave your heart." This mystery shows us that Mary, our Mother is concerned with our daily needs, even material ones: “They have no wine left.” Her intercession is powerful. Jesus will The Children’s illustrated bible. never refuse her Hermes House. requests.
  • 27. 10. Marriage Sacrament By His presence, Christian marriage was raised to the dignity of a sacrament. Jesus, help us to do whatever You tell us. Mary, help us to know you better and to seek your intercession in all our difficulties. “Make your request, my mother; for I will not refuse you.” (1 Kg. 2:20) Paolo Veronese, The Marriage at Cana, 1562. Louvre Museum. Paris.
