Material Engineer, RGBSI contract to Lear Corporation Southfield, MI 2011- present
Responsibilities included:
• Involved in R & D Projects for Advanced Material Engineering in automotive seat development environment
including; planning, organization, and completion of Engineering projects within the area of assigned
responsibility in Research and developments and interaction of comfort studies and external related supports
• Eco-Laminate Project: Involved in design, development, testing and validation of Eco-Laminate Material
from Tenowo for Trim Laminate, plus pad applications for Hyundai Seating Foams. Coordinated with
supplier on material composition to meet OEM/ Project target specifications. Also involved in 3rd
party
testing, data collection, compiling results and preparation of the reports for customer presentation
• USB Soy Foam Project: Design and Development of Environment friendly seating foam with Soy for North
American OEM’s. Coordinated in development work between Renosol plant and Troy Polymers Lab. Gave
directions to make sure that objectives and requirements identified in the time line of the project are met.
Participated in the Soy Foam trial from TDI base Soy formulation for seating application. Involved in 3rd
part
testing / validation per GM Specifications and approval for implementation of soy foam in GM auto seats.
• Hyundai 15% Soy Foam Project:
Development of MDI soy foam technology for headrest and armrest applications for Hyundai automotive
Involved in planning, organization and execution of the project
TrimMatch Project: Design and development of suitable paint for Trimmatch application to improve
aesthetic of the exposed areas of the seating foam, including testing and validation of the painted parts to
meet Ford material specifications
• Claf Material Evaluation:
Development and Evaluation of Claf material on B surface of GM K2XX Front Seat Cushion for Anti-Squeak
properties
• Ongoing Research: Currently working on new developments in the field of polyurethane industry and
providing recommendations to R & D managements for implementation
• Utilization of the knowledge of polyurethane foam formulation and manufacturing processes towards seat
design application

Responsibilities included:
• Supervision of Laboratory employees in their day-to-day activities, including wet Chemistry Analysis, testing
of Physical/Mechanical Properties of various Automotive materials, including, Thermoplastic (TPU, Nylon,
PPL, etc.) and Thermo-set materials (Polyurethane Foams) according to ASTM and SAE specification, and
distribution of the results.
• Training of Lab personnel in characterizing materials by Instron, FTIR, DSC, GPC, Melt flow Indexer and
various other instruments.
• Actively involved in providing Technical Support to Injection Molding and Microcellular operations in
trouble shooting and scrap reduction.
• Involved in suggesting and recommendation of materials per customer requirements and establishing
customer specification according to ASTM and SAE callout.
• Involved in evaluation and validation of incoming materials for production by wet Analytical chemistry
testing.
• Responsible for formulation and development of thermoplastic materials for high performance and various
automotive applications like grommets, bushings, suspension, chassis/body parts etc.

delivery of the finished developed products.

• Development of Na2O-Si2O-CO2-H2O System to obtain insight of the processes taking place during drying
operation of the silicate bonded sand mold used in foundry.
• Design apparatus for the above mentioned quaternary system.

• Used TGA, DTA, XRD, SEM, techniques to study properties of ceramic materials.

• Experience and working knowledge with reaction injection molding and microcellular operations in
processing of plastic and foam parts respectively.
• Expertise in the area of Design, testing, Analysis & familiarity with auto industry standards ASTM & SAE

determine specific testing, need to follow up or investigations. Fully understand the limitations on availability
