When shopping around for this gate, I found more than a few companies offering extremely low prices
but once you added it to the shopping cart; they tried hitting you for tax and shipping. Regalo Baby
Gate The reason why I'm even mentioning this is in the hopes that it will save you some time when
searching through the results. I have a lot more to say on this subject but I will stick to my review of the
gate.
I will say this upfront, this gate was made for an opening exactly 76" so if your opening is over or under
the 76 inches, you might want to reconsider. I'm not saying that this gate wouldn't work but you would
have to adjust the flex joints which wouldn't give a perfectly straight line.
I needed the gate for an opening size which was 75 1/2" but I couldn't get the gate to fit. I could have
moved the gate out because it does flex at the joints but that kind of defeats the purpose of enclosing
the opening from end to end so I decided to cut the one end section and remove one bar. If your gate
doesn't have to be in line (straight across the opening) then you should be okay. The gate comes with
four mounting brackets which need to be attached to the wall with mounting screws (included) so it's a
good idea to pick up a stud finder if you do not already own one.
2. I wouldn't personally attach this gate using drywall screws because the gate is somewhat heavy and
might break away from the drywall. You might try using an adhesive but if you decide to take down the
gate, at a later time, you might have a mess on your hands. I would just stick to using the wood screws
because you can always patch the holes at a later time. The gate is made from steel and the adjustable
joints are plastic. I don't see any flaking or bubbling in the paint so that's good. The gate seems well
constructed and it adjusts to fit many shapes.
If you want to adjust the gate, loosen one of the joints then tighten when you find that desired shape.
The gate has a built in door and it opens by lifting the latch upwards. There is a safety lock at the top of
this latch so that is a plus if you have little ones and you would like keep them from opening the door.
All in all, I would say this gate is well worth the money. The directions are straight forward & simple. I
would recommend assembling the gate first (do a dry run) then figure out exactly how you would like to
set up the gate. Once you figure that out, then start attaching your wall mounts.
