Making the most of community
resources and field trips
“field trips offer an excellent bridge between the work of
the school and the work of the world outside.”
Procedures
 Preliminary planning by the teacher
 Pre planning with others going to the trip
 Taking the field trip
 Post-field trip
 Make a tentative route plan
 Try to work out mutually satisfactory
arrangements
 Prepare preliminary list of questions
 Make preliminary contacts
Preliminary planning by the teacher
 Make final arrangement with the school
principal about the detail of the trip:
- Time
- Schedule
- Transportation arrangements
- Finances
- Permission slips from parents
Pre planning with others going to the
trip
 Discuss the objectives of the trip
 The main objective should be included in
the permit slip
 Prepare a list of questions
 Define safety and behavior standards
 Discuss and decide in ways to document the
trip
 List specific object to be seen on the site
 Discuss appropriate dress
 Before the trip, use variety of learning
materials
Taking the field trip
 Distribute route map
 Teacher should check the group and
introduce the guide
 Special effort should be made to ensure
that:
- The trip keeps to the time schedule
- The group participates courteously in the entire trip

Making the most of community resources and field

  • 1. Making the most of community resources and field trips “field trips offer an excellent bridge between the work of the school and the work of the world outside.”
  • 2. Procedures  Preliminary planning by the teacher  Pre planning with others going to the trip  Taking the field trip  Post-field trip
  • 3.  Make a tentative route plan  Try to work out mutually satisfactory arrangements  Prepare preliminary list of questions  Make preliminary contacts
  • 4. Preliminary planning by the teacher  Make final arrangement with the school principal about the detail of the trip: - Time - Schedule - Transportation arrangements - Finances - Permission slips from parents
  • 5. Pre planning with others going to the trip  Discuss the objectives of the trip  The main objective should be included in the permit slip  Prepare a list of questions  Define safety and behavior standards
  • 6.  Discuss and decide in ways to document the trip  List specific object to be seen on the site  Discuss appropriate dress  Before the trip, use variety of learning materials
  • 7. Taking the field trip  Distribute route map  Teacher should check the group and introduce the guide  Special effort should be made to ensure that: - The trip keeps to the time schedule - The group participates courteously in the entire trip
  • 9. Educational benefits of field trips  Rich and memorable experiences  Brings us to the world behind the classroom  Wide range of application  Lead to changes in attitude
