This document provides an overview of various read/write web tools including blogs, wikis, Facebook, Flickr, Ning, podcasts, RSS, screencasts, social bookmarking, and Twitter. It was prepared by RZP for a course on using these tools in education. Short definitions and examples are given for each tool, highlighting their potential uses and pros and cons. The goal is to demonstrate how these free web tools can help with teaching and learning.

Definition: social networking site – users interact

Definition: “photo-sharing site where one can

Definition: software/hardware that allows
publishing/transmitting content via the Web
Application: create, publish tailored audio files
Pros: enable portable education

organizer of the vast amount of information
