2. FILM POSTERS
• Film poster are used as advertising for a film which is
due to be out in cinema. The film gives the audience an
insight into the narrative of the film and the genre of the
film it is advertising.

3. TYPOGRAPHY
• The typography used on a film poster commonly corresponds with the
genre of the film.
• ‘The Uninvited’ film poster, has used typography that looks as if
someone has written it on a window, this corresponds with the image on
the right of the film poster. The link between is important as this will
make it a more interesting and eye-catching film poster.

4. PHOTOGRAPHS AND ILLUSTRATIONS
• The photographs also correspond with the film narrative and
genre of the film.
• On the ‘Limitless’ film poster, the photography used in the
background represent fast moving, fast paced action within
the film. As well as the narrative being shown through the
photography, the characters and their roles can also be
shown through the images used.

5. LIGHTING
• The lighting set the ‘mood’ on a film poster, for example if it was a
dark and scary film the lighting will be dull/dimmed down, and if it
was a happy/comical film then the lighting will be bright.
• On the ‘Unknown’ film poster the lighting is used to cover the
characters face, emphasising the serious facial expression.

6. COLOUR SCHEMES
• Colour schemes are cleverly used when used to
advertise a film due to premiere in cinemas. Colours
can connote many different things. In romantic films the
colour red may be used to connote love and passion,
but then the colour red could be also used in a horror
movie to connote danger and death.
