1. Rebeca Gyumi Lawyer and TV & Radio Presenter at Femina, Tanzania
What was your overall impression of the sessions?
“Having time with my coach to think through and write down key issues I face in my personal and
leadership life helped me to see myself in a different eye. And when we had time for Skype
conversations, it was nice to reflect on how I feel in areas I have mentioned as challenging.”
How will this affect your life?
“This coaching opportunity will improve my inter-personal relations and leadership ability. As an
aspiring young leader in my community, the coaching experience has taught me to focus on my
personal growth and development as much as I want to see others develop and grow in my
community.”
What has worked for you?
“Saving quality time for myself - this was somewhat not working for me. I was just working and
working, and I would rarely say ‘NO’ to someone who needed help/assistance from me. After my
coaching sessions I tried with baby steps to allocate time for myself and learn to say ‘NO’ whenever I
felt like I had a lot to do on my table. I'm learning to be honest with myself and also to take
conscious decisions to deal with my mistakes.”
How would you rate the coaching part as a whole? What has worked best for you so far?
“I would rate the coaching as very good. I got to know more about myself as a whole, not just as a
young leader, but as a whole human being. My personal and professional life became very clear to
me and their relationship was emphasized. For me to develop as a leader, I also need to pay the
same attention to my personal life - how I relate to people, how I take care of myself, and care
about others.”
