 There are many advantages to building with
shipping containers, a few of these include:
o Strength: A 40' container is internationally
engineered to weigh about 9,000 lbs, carry nearly
67,000 lbs of cargo and to be able to withstand 8
containers, all fully loaded, stacked on top of it.
o Reuse: Millions of containers go unused around the
world, they stack up at ports and become an
environmental nuisance taking up valuable
wetlands space. Building from containers reuses a
waste stream resource and decreases the need for
virgin materials.
o Speed of build: Structures arrive and are set quickly
creating a dried-in condition within hours.
o Energy efficiency: If properly designed, the
inherent qualities of the shipping container can
contribute to passive energy efficiency, saving on
heating and cooling costs.
Gorilla is currently focused on shipping container building, but they are also in the

Gorilla Design Manufacturing Process – Part 1
 Affinity Building Systems (“ABS”)
o ABS uses the most sophisticated systems-built
technologies to construct single-family, multi-family
and commercial properties,
o The owners of ABS have over 100 years of combined
experience in all aspects of real estate
development, design and management,
o By building in controlled environments, ABS can
construct in a much more efficient manner, while
not at the mercy of weather and other delays,
o ABS manufacturing facility is housed over 2 ½ acres
and is contained on their private 13-acre complex
 Affinity Building Systems (“ABS”)
o Creates the interior for the houses with all of the
associated wood work and cabinetry.
Affinity Building Systems is the first of two separate manufacturing facilities where
pre-fabricated interiors are built that are later added to the ISBU containers

Gorilla Design Manufacturing Process – Part 2
 IDC – Industrial Door Contractors, Inc.
o Hangar door and blast door manufacturer for
the armed services and airports,
o Officially incorporated in 1983 and has been
growing ever since,
o They have over 65 employees and a 72,000
square foot manufacturing facility.
 IDC – Industrial Door Contractors, Inc.
o Does the metal work and prepares the unit for
installation of interior pieces,
o Mounts the Affinity elements onto the
containers,
o Installs plumbing and electrical components,
o Does finishing work to the units.
Industrial Door Contractors is the second of the two manufacturing facilities, which works
with the ISBU containers and assembles all of the components on site

Gorilla Design Delivery
 Container shipping uses standard sized
containers of:
o 20 foot (6.09 meters),
o 53 foot (16.15 meters).
 Containers are built to international standard
making them interchangeable between
shipping companies, rail and truck companies,
o TEU is twenty-foot equivalent unit, which is the
standard measure.
 Pricing is always going to be a key component
in choosing a container shipping service.

ultimate destination and the various container sizes to be shipped

 The TRW Group’s Property Development team have
completed many infrastructure projects successfully.
o They bring together large numbers of private sector

 TRW Group has designed and build commercial
aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO)
hangars, FBOs, commercial and military aircraft
simulator facilities, aircraft pilot and engineering

TRW Asia is Gorilla’s EPC partner on projects where an EPC is required

Gorilla Design Assembly
 The Gorilla Design units arrive mostly complete
and ready to attach to the foundation and to each
other as they are designed for swift construction,
o The units are typically installed in three days or less.
 The foundation is laid by injecting cement into
cardboard tubing to which the connecting plates
are attached.
o The depth is determined by the frost line.
 Completion is done by general contractors under
the direction of Gorilla Design.
Gorilla Design oversees the preparation of the construction site as well as the assembly
and finishing construction of the units on the delivery site

o single family residences,
o multi-family residences.
 Gorilla Design will assist with the
design, sustainability efforts, and construction
management aspects of the project.
o The estimated contract value of the project is
expected to exceed $50 million.
White Light Group – Mississippi Net Zero Community Project

 Gorilla Design is currently working with North
Dakota Development Group, Affinity Building
Systems and multiple developers on 24 acres of
land thirteen miles from the Shale oil fields in
North Dakota.
 The land owners have permits to place 150
temporary two-bedroom structures for a small
residential development.
 Gorilla’s revenue for the project is $7.45 million
and the expected profit will be approximately
$2.2 million
o Additional developments expected over the next
24 months in North Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma,
Mississippi and Texas.
o This exciting partnership has the potential to
exceed $30 million US in revenue.
Prairie Trails – North Dakota Development Group

 Gorilla Design has been approached by a
South American manufacturing organization
to discuss becoming Gorilla Design’s
exclusive distributor and manufacturer in
South America.
o They are seeking to negotiate terms of the
agreement by the end 2012.
 South American production is planned to
commence by the end of 2012.
o It is expected that Gorilla Design will
generate approximately $1 million to $3
million in revenue annually from this
relationship.

 Mr. Maufas has 20 years of experience developing and managing multi-million dollar
ventures and is well versed in strategic planning, project management and resource
development. He is passionate about inventing and developing technological solutions to
existing problems in the building science, automotive and energy fields. He has the proven
ability to manage complex issues and projects from a large picture perspective while
producing excellent highly innovative results.
 Since 2006, Maufas has led Gorilla Design from a start-up venture based on ideas derived
from his first-hand experience with the mass destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina to a
sustainability leader and an innovator of green building. As CEO of Gorilla, Maufas manages
the architectural, engineering and construction teams for all projects. Most recently Maufas
spear headed a school building project that created Salt Lake City’s first net-zero energy,
permitted shipping container structure, the Sego Lily School. His homes, projects and
generosity have landed both Maufas and Gorilla Design in media locally and nationally.
