1. What Kind of Media Institution Might
Distribute Your media Product And Why?
2. My Product
• Is a music magazine
• It is aimed at teenage girls between the ages 12-18 years
• The genre of music it is based around is pop music
3. Different Options for which Institution might
distribute my product
1. IPC
2. Imagine
3. Hearst
4. Bauer Media Group
4. The Media Institution that would Distribute My Product.
Bauer Media Group
It is a worldwide empire offering over 300 magazines in 15
countries so they will have a lot of experience in the magazine
industry.
They also have experience of online platforms which will be good
for the future of my magazine if it planned to expand into an
online magazine.
5. Lots of experience with music magazines such as Kerrang!, Mojo
& Q. This is ideal as my magazine is also a music magazine so
they will have appropriate resources to make it as successful as
possible.
They reach over 22 million UK consumers each week. This is good
because my product is a mass media product and so a large
target audience is wanted. They would allow us to achieve this.
6. Why Not the Others?
Hearst
Only publishes online so they would be good if the magazine
was an online version. However mine is a print version so they
would be a weaker choice for my product. It is important to note
however that my target audience do spend a lot of time online
and so having an online version of the magazine is something I
would thick about in the future.
7. Imagine
Imagine focuses mainly on technological magazines so my genre
of magazine does not match their portfolio of magazines.
IPC
IPC only has one music magazine, NME. They reach a smaller
audience than Bauer, which is not ideal for my magazine.
