2. Bullying results in around 4,400
deaths per year. For every one of
those of those deaths, there are at
least 100 more attempts. Cyber
bulling is a high contributor to
these deaths.
3. “Cyber bullying is when a child or
teenager is harassed, humiliated,
embarrassed, threatened or
tormented using digital
technology.”
4. Cyber bullying can cause victims to
turn to lethal violence in school.
87% of school shooters said they
had the desire to “get back at
those who have hurt them.”
5. About 42% of children have been bullied
while online, and about 21% of children
have received disrespectful or
threatening emails.
6. Forms of cyber bullying: sending
hateful messages, sending
pornographic pictures, stealing
passwords, impersonating others,
making hate websites, etc.
7. Megan Meier, 13, received
hateful messages, via
Myspace, from a boy she
met online.
8. After being flirtatious, the boy
started to say mean things like, how
the world would be better without
her. She felt like she was rejected
and later, committed suicide. Six
weeks after her death, it was
discovered that the boy was a
woman, 47, who lived down the
street. She was aware of Megan’s
use of antidepressant pills and of
her Myspace page.
9. Every 7 minutes, a child is bullied.
