• Volunteer Teacher Payment Nochikulam Tamil Maha
Vidyalayam at Morawewa,
• The project name caleed 'Vellicham" was launched to support the
basic education of Nochikulam Tamil Maha Vidyalayam at
Morawewa, Trincomalee. In this school had a lack of teachers to
run the school and some teachers are rendered their service
without payment.
In this project Rotary is supporting to give the monthly salary for
five teachers per month Rs.9,500.00. This is a continual project
and it was launched on President Installation Ceremony.
10. Donation of Computers to Schools
Three Set of Computer was given to remote
schools under the Project name called
'Velichcham".
11. Scholarship for Undergraduates
• Tow scholarship for undergraduates who are
living in the Refugee camp at Killiveddi under
poor living condition, are given for each
Rs.1500/= per month until finish their studies.
These students are following management
course at University of Jaffna and because of
their poor background they had a plan to drop
the course.

there is about 88
people have come
back last August after
being displaced in
1984.
13. Management Information System to
General Hospital, Trincomalee
Computers, Printers & necessary equipments to “Hospital
Management System” was provided to the General Hospital,
Trincomalee and the cost of the project is Rs. 1,785,344.00
This is a “Rotary Matching Grant Project” between Rotary Denmark –
D 1470 & Rotary Club of Trincomalee – D 3220.
14. Construction of Toilets at
Morewewa
This Project was supported
by Rotary Club of Bathavon,
UK
Three areas were selected in
the Morawewa Division,
namely Kituloothu,
Panmadawachchi and
Shanthipuram. Kituloothu
were allocated 25 Nos.,
--Nochchikulam 09 Nos and
Panmedawachchi 18nos.
15. Back to Sea
Boat donated by
Danish Rotarians
needed repairs to be
used in the high seas.
Trincomalee
Rotarians helped the
owner to repair the
boat. Now he is using
it in the open sea by
engaging another
person to assist him.
16. Construction of Community Wells in
Muthur East Villages
Two community duct wells were constructed
Santhosapuram & Seenanvali (Muthur East) to
facilitate the drinking water for this area people.
The people in these areas were suffering very
badly in getting drinking & cooking purpose. Now
there are separate outlets for Male & Female
users. Srilanka Navy gave great help in completing
this project
17. Home Gardening Project at
Villankulam & Morawewa
Home gardening project at Vilankulam & Morawewa- In this project
100Kg of Barbed wire and vegetable seeds were issued to 60
Families of these areas. Total cost of the project is Rs. 1,476,255.00
18. World Polio Day
First time in the history
of the world it was
declared ‘world Polio
Day’ – 24.10.2012
To mark the Rotary’s significant effort to eradicate of Polio, World Polio day was
celebrated at Shri Shanmuga Hindu Ladies college. The Theme talk of ‘Rotary Role
in eradication of Polio was given by Rrn.PP.Dr.Gunalan.

Rotract club of Trincomalee has renewed with more than

27. Distribution of Shoes to School
Children
Hundred and five pair of shoes & Exercise books were
distributed to poor students of Kiravalkuli Tamil Vidyalayam
which is situated in the Muthur East, abut 70Km from
Trincomalee town. The cost of the project is Rs. 131,000/=
28. Flood Relief Work at
Thennamaravadi
In the first stage Rs.1000/= value of dry rations were given to
Sixty Seven families out of 150 families. Total cost of the
project is Rs.150,000/=
29. Rotary Eye Camp for Remote Villagers
Eye camp was conducted with support of the Rotary Club of Kandy
Heritage. More than 165 people were screened for issuing spectacles.
After screening 16 patients were identified for further surgery such
cataract etc. More than 150 villagers received spectacles
.

32. Handing Over Diabetic Awareness

As part of the Seeni Meani project, Methodist Girls college issued a
diabetic bag along with Hand bills to the Patients. at diabetic
clinic at General Hospital of Trincomalee
33. Inauguration of Pre-School
Diploma Programme
• Project involved with 26 Rotary Clubs from
California & 03 leading Clubs in Srilanka –
Jaffna, Batticaloa & Kurunagala. And balance
from Rotary Foundation. Project cost is
US$.1,30,869 – Srilanka Rs.16.5 Million. Eight
Training Centres in Eastern Province & Six
centres in Jaffna. About 1000 teachers will be
trained in this 10 months Diploma Programme
& 2000 Pre School Children will be benefited
annually.

Exhibhition” at Vigneswara MV, Trincomalee
on 26.03.2013. This is a project of Rotary
under “Seenimini” Programme
47. Rotary District Governor’s visit to
General Hospital Trincomalee
• Rotary District Governor Dharshan John visited General
Hospital, Trincomalee on 26.03.2013, along with his Secretary
Lal Wijayaratnae & Assistant Governor Saman
Gunawardhana. Visiting team was very much interested in
Computer based “Management Information System” Alreadr
Denmark Rotarians assisted Computers & other related items
to this project. They also now in the process of donating an
Ultra Sound Scanner worth of 4.5 Million.
