- 5. Outreach to Outbounds Provide PR material, handouts, posters, guidelines to Clubs for recruiting – and use Social Media (Facebook, Twitter) too. Here’s how your clubs & districts can recruit students: ---Visit schools, guidance counselors, foreign language classes ---Use current Inbounds ---Engage ROTEX and Rebounds ---Speak to churches & community groups
- 6. Promoting to get Host Clubs and Host families involved: --Current Inbound Students are the best promotion for our program. Have them go to club meetings, not just of host clubs, but clubs that are not currently hosting. Do a program at those clubs, Students can get Rotarians to fall in love with them! --Have clubs that are not hosting, host an activity It’s a great way to grow a clubs interest in our program and for them to get to know the students. --Rotarians can recruit potential host families at Civic, Community and Church organizations they belong to. --Promote Inbound program with Outbound students and their families

- 10. How Can You Help?
- 11. Encourage your Inbound and Outbound students to: •Be a model student •Proudly represent their country •Share experiences with potential YE students •Attend Rotary meetings and talk about how important the program is to them •Mingle with Rotarians •Post responsibly on social media!!!
- 12. • Use current host families as ambassadors • Get written success stories from host families to share with others • Parents of outbounds have an extra bed – can they share with an inbound? Promote to Attract Host Families
- 13. • Bring YE students to Rotary meetings regularly • Have frequent YE Programs at club meetings • Engage your committee in the Youth Exchange process. Get new folks involved • Ask host family members & parents of outbounds to join Rotary Rotarians

- The future of our program, the growth of our program depends on it! As in most things, we have competition! We need to be pro-active---all of us that the Rotary YE program is the best out there!
- Rotary Youth Exchange offers students Exposure to different cultures. Rotary Youth Exchange ranks as one of the most powerful ways to promote international understanding and peace. The Rotary Youth Exchange program provides thousands of young students with the opportunity to meet people from other countries and to experience new cultures, planting the seeds for a lifetime of international understanding.
- How do we recruit them? How do we engage them ? and how do we get them involved in Rotex, Rotaract Interact and then ultimately to become Rotarians!
- It’s so important for us to tell our Rotary Youth Exchange stories The future of the program depends on it! We need to shout from the roof tops about What an amazing program this is – how it engages Rotarians and changes the student’s and the host parents lives. The more we talk about our great experiences, the more people will want to be involved. Your clubs and districts need to carry the message, and enlist current and former exchange students to talk about it everywhere. As Rotary Youth Exchange volunteers, you and the students are our best press agents to get the word out about our program
- How to recruit outbounds – social media, guidance counselors, foreign language classes, using inbounds to recruit, using rebounds if they’re still in school or community, ROTEX
- How to recruit Host clubs - How to recruit host families – outreach to churches, schools, parents hosting inbounds (referrals)
- Yes, sometimes it’s crazy--- paperwork, insurance, background checks, airline tickets, visas and so much more… but let’s not focus on this, IT’S JUST A NECESSARY ITEM, TO HAVE OUR PROGRAM SAFE FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS
- When you speak to exchange students what do they say about being a Rotary YE Student? Usually it is stuff like: it changed their life forever, it was the best year of their life, they wish it was not over. Are we telling other students about this, are we sharing these stories with Rotarians, schools, potential host families and communities. Does everyone involved or those who could be involved know of the positive change agents they could be by being involved in the Rotary Youth Exchange program.
- LET’S FOCUS ON THE POSTIIVE, THE EXPERIENCES, THE RELATIONSHIPS AND THE LIVES WE CHANGE WITH THIS AMAZING PROGRAM.
- EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE IN HELPING TO PROMOTE THE ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM. THEY SAY THE BEST PR IS WORD OF MOUTH. ALL OF US ARE VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT YE. WE NEED TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT HOW YOUTH EXCHANGE, CHANGES LIVES. WE NEED TO WORK WITH CLUBS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE THEIR EXCHANGE STUDENTS A BIG PART OF THEIR CLUBS. MORE INTERACTION WITH Adults, the community, and Rotarians will yield to more Adults being passionate about the program. This will then help with more Adults/Families wanting to be Rotary Volunteers and be host families.
- ENCOURAGE HOST FAMILIES WHO LOVE HOSTING TO TALK TO FRIENDS AND OTHER PARENTS ABOUT THE EXPERIENCES THEY HAVE HAD WITH STUDENTS HAVE THEM TELL FOLKS HOW GREAT IT WAS AND HOW IT AFFECTED THEIR FAMILY!
- Students---need to interact and get to know Rotarians, not just the YEO / YEC and Host families Get new blood involved in YE Committee at your clubs, district and multi Districts. New blood---brings new enthusiasm and energy and new Ideas for promoting and working with this awesome program.
- Whether you have been involved in Rotary Youth Exchange for years or are new to this program, let’s be sure to share our stories with others. Students describe this as the "best year of their lives. As Rotarians we have to work together with clubs, districts, Rotarians and host families to continue to make this the best exchange out there. , please share your Rotary Youth Exchange stories, and encourage others to get involved. Don’t keep Youth Exchange as your little secret! I’d like to open this up for any stories on how you promote Exchange in your area.
