5. 5Pre-Convention 2014
Problems :
• Workload
• more important: as a Rotarian I would always be the
authoritative person in the program – how could I reach
the inbounds on a trustworthy basis?
• Will today´s youngsters turn to a person 60 plus, if they
need help?
• Will today´s youngsters turn to a person 60 plus in delicate
matters?
• Will our inbounds turn to a Rotarian, if they feel the local
Rotarians are biased against them?
• Will one of our inbounds turn to his YEO, Counsellor,
District Chair, if he has broken one of our rules, but now
needs support, help?
6. 6Pre-Convention 2014
An even more important problem:
In our LTEP and STEP we meet wonderful young people,
often with amazing potential. We invite them into the
Rotary family – and then we seem to forget
about them.
On club level, we might invite them for a Club meeting to
give a lively report of the exchange year in another
culture…
And after that, with the end of the school career they seem
to disappear into Rotarian No-where.

increased knowledge of Rotary and our values
Our big challenge:
How do we keep these promising young people in our reach
until they can join Rotary?

Win Win Situation
Rebounds:
To return home after an amazing, forming year in the
great Rotary Family is often hurtful – together with
young Rotex people who have gone through the same
problems, we can help!
Rotary keeps contact and offers support to develop the
newly gained personal growth into long lasting positive
effects
We offer chances for service to future leaders
18. 18Pre-Convention 2014
Win Win Situation
Rotary International:
The future of Rotary is guaranteed, if the younger
generations find membership in the great Rotary Family
attractive, desirable
The future of Rotary is guaranteed, if the next generations
know our values and our ability to change lives and if they
find this interesting
If we look at membership growth and containment, we
should not overlook the grand potential in the group of
promising former exchangees
