2. Jack Richmond
• Research and planning – 14 (level 3)
• Construction – 43 (level 3)
• Evaluation – 17 (level 4)
3. Research and Planning (Good)
• For the research Jack carried out a
questionnaire so that he could establish how
to style his magazine and who his main target
audience would be, this then enabled him to
create a house style and genre which would fit
his audience.
• Also jack looked at other types of music
magazine which enabled him to dip into
different house styles of the magazines and
then eventually create his own house style
which is original.
4. Research and Planning (Poor)
• The questionnaire could include more in-
depth questions so that he could get a better
knowledge of what his audience would be.
• The blog needs to be updated more often in
order to achieve better marks, the blog was
not updated between November to March.
5. Construction (Good)
• The colour pallet is consistent with the use of
red, white and black, this is a good use of
colours because it goes with the type of
magazine that he is trying to create.
• 3 fonts are used on the front cover which is
the typical conventions of a magazine, which
is not to use more than 2 or 3 font styles.
6. Construction (Poor)
• The construction of the magazine looks like
there is slightly to much going and therefore
does not represent a real-looking magazine
which is important.
• The image on the feature article is being cut
through via a block of colour and text which
makes the piece look amateur.
7. Evaluation (Good)
• He uses some technology used in his blog, he
includes thing such as slide share and chirbit.
• He also has a good understanding of the
development from the prelim task to the full
task.
8. Evaluation (Poor)
• He could use more technology on the blog,
such as YouTube.
• Also he could have included somewhere of
how he compares his work to a real style
model and how he used this to create his
house style.
9. Kirstie Maccoy
• Research and planning – 13 (level 3)
• Construction – 43 (level 3)
• Evaluation – 14 (level 3)
10. Research and Planning (Good)
• She has given a lot of planning and research
evidence throughout her blog.
• She has also taken into account who her
target audience is going to be by handing out
questionnaires and getting feedback on who is
going to be buying her blog.
11. Research and Planning (Poor)
• Could be a larger choice of answers on some
of the questionnaire as it seems to be for a
typical niche audience before she has created
the magazine.
• She could have used a variety of different
ways for research as only used one form, this
being a questionnaire.
12. Construction (Good)
• She has showed understanding of the
conventions of layout and the page design,
she has also used a range of fonts and text
sizes.
• As well as this she has manipulated
photographs where necessary to fit in with
the house style and context of the magazine.
13. Construction (Poor)
• The construction is fairly good but one thing is
that the use of text makes it look as if it is not
very professional, for example the header and
tags are quite hard to read.
• Another is the use of the white background,
even though it brings out the picture it makes
the rest of the magazine look bland and
boring.
14. Evaluation (Good)
• She has used technology in the evaluation but
hasn’t used enough of it to get into the higher
marks, for example using videos or YouTube.
• Also she has a good understanding of the task
from the prelim work up until the finished
magazine cover.
15. Evaluation (Poor)
• She could use more technology on the blog,
such as YouTube.
• Also she could have included somewhere of
how he compares his work to a real style
model and how he used this to assist in how
to style it.
16. Megan Durham
• Research and planning – 13 (level 3)
• Construction – 48 (level 4)
• Evaluation – 16 (level 4)
17. Research and Planning (Good)
• She has taken into account who her target
audience are going to be, by handing out
questionnaires to get an idea of who it is that
will buy her magazine.
• She has also produced a music magazine
article plan.
18. Research and Planning (Poor)
• The planning for the magazine, such as the
magazine article plan are not very detailed.
• She could also have used various ways to
gather information on who her target
audience is not just a questionnaire.
19. Construction (Good)
• She has used a range of fonts and has kept her
colour pallet down to 4 colours.
• She has also matched the image to the
background of the magazine and the image is
of good quality.
20. Construction (Poor)
• The lime green colour on the front of the
magazine doesn’t really go with the colour
pallet of black, white and purple.
• I also don’t think that the front cover would
really stand out on a shelf because there is no
use of very eye catching colours or images.
21. Evaluation (Good)
• She has used some technology on the blog, by
using things like YouTube, slid share and
Prezzi. She has also wrote a wide range of
information on her blog.
• She also has a very good understanding of the
task, all the way from the prelim work up until
the completed task and this is why we have
given her such a high mark.
22. Evaluation (Poor)
• Could include somewhere how she feels her
work compares to a magazine that is on the
shelf at the minute.
