Analysis of the apocalypse of Bill lizard Devon roper, Ryan Willacy
Genre The drama is of the comedy genre. Because it is quite light hearted and funny but it is quite odd and a bit weird. Propp’s theory is used because bill is the hero the pooka is the helper and they are looking for the villain who is unknown (this is an enigma or puzzle.)
Inflection and pitch An inflection is the highs and lows in a voice. Inflection is used in the radio drama at particular times for example when in trouble the characters voices become high pitched and rough. Usually the character Bill lizard talks rough and deep voice. Pitch is how high or low a voice is Pitch was used in bill lizard quite well because Bill’s voice was low pitched and rough and the pooka has a high pitched squeaky voice,
Ambience Ambience is background noise and sfx that make it sound like its set in a particular place. A lot Ambience was used in Bill lizard because the scenes need ambience to make it sound more realistic. in a particular scene the characters were in what sounded like a science lab and there were lots of machine noises
Dialect Dialect is different to standard English. It is the different ways people understand the meanings of one single word.
Cultural codes The language use is usually formal English for bill but he creates some new words up. The pooka speaks using colloquial language (a bit like slang or words you would write but not speak.) The pronunciation time for bill is quite slow to medium paced but the pooka talks quite fast. Overall we would say that it is presented with an informal mode of address. It is aimed at younger adults as it is more informal than what older people listen but has a little bit of bad language so younger audiences may be offended.
