Time is Gold
Time management is
a very important skill
that everyone needs
to practice and be
very good at not just
at home but also in
the office. This will
show how
professional you are
at work and how
much you value your
job. Thousands of
articles have been
written about it yet
most of us are still having a hard time handling their
time because of the simple fact that they are doing it
all wrong. Before you even begin to manage your
time, you need to be able to understand what time
really is, and the sooner you do this, the better.
It may seem like there is not enough time to finish
your work for the day, but if you follow these basic
steps in time management, all your efforts will be
rewarded and appreciated.
1. Wake up early - they say that the early bird catches
the worm, and yes you will really get the good in
everything life if you wake up early everyday. You
can even exercise and have breakfast with your
family without having to worry about getting into the
office on time. You are not only giving time to be
healthy but you are also fulfilling your
responsibilities at home, making your wife and kids
happy.
2. Arriving to the office early - this will allow you to
relax and clean your desk before the day starts. You
can even have a cup of coffee and check your e-mails
before the actual work day starts.
3. Create your schedule for the day - creating a
schedule will make your tasks easier and will put
your tasks in order. However, you do not just create a
schedule for the sake of creating one, you need to
follow it religiously to avoid distractions and for you
to be able to focus more on your tasks.
4. Learn to prioritize - prioritize the most important
things in your schedule especially the ones that need
to be delivered right away. Delaying these tasks will
just create confusion and will cause stress to build up
inside you.
5. Avoid distractions - yes, stay away from people
who keep on dropping by at your desk to chat. There
is a proper time for that.
6. Take your breaks on time -your breaks will allow
you to free your mind fro your job for a while. It also
helps you breathe when things get a little tough too.
Time-management is a career management skill that
could make or break our entire day at work so
practicing it is a must in order to become productive
and to deliver positive results before the day ends.
These are just some of the most basic steps to
practice time management. Let these steps guide you
in achieving your career goals.
Steps to a Midlife
Career Job Change
You don't have to feel guilty about quitting your
current job and moving on to the next one because
you are entitled to make your own decisions in life.
The only thing that you need to make sure is that you
are choosing the right job this time because job
hopping is not ideal for midlife employees as it will
not be good to look at in your resume. Make sure that
your next job is the one you that want; something

that is meaningful and has the capacity to keep you
and make you grow as a person.
There could be a whole lot of reasons why you need
to quit your job despite of your age, however if your
reason is valid and solid, then you really have to
make the change. Apart from making the change
itself, there are many other considerations that you
need to acknowledge such as competing with fresh
graduates over a certain position. Since you were
stuck in a job you dreaded for years, you may lack
some of the new and modern skills that the younger
generation has, which makes applying for another job
challenging but not necessarily impossible.
Worried about making that change? Don't be,
because we will give you a step by step plan on
making an exit from your current job and landing the
job that you love.
1. Decide if you want to make a job change - if you are
quitting because you are bored, chances are you will
eventually get bored in your next job. If you are angry
at someone, making an impulsive decision about
quitting won't help in you either. Face the facts, if the
environment is threatening in your current job and
there is nothing you can do about it, hand in your 2
weeks’ notice.
2. Self-assessment- start from the basics by
identifying your skills and interests and pursuing a
job that requires most of your qualifications.
3. Do your homework - research about the job you
are planning to apply by conducting informal
interviews and internet searches to find out if you are
a perfect match.
4. Invest in yourself - once you are positive, be ready
to learn and develop new skills. Think about any
transferrable skills that you could enhance that could
bring to your next job.
5. Create a knock out resume - make sure that your
resume will stand out from the rest with details such
as your previous work experiences, accomplishments
and further studies.
Changing jobs is for everyone and does not require
an age limit. These 5 basic steps will make the entire
process easy and convenient for you while you
pursue your other goals in life. You have every right
to live the life you have always dreamed of, make that
change if it is what you really need.
Manage Your Career
like Never Before
Perhaps at some
point in your life,
you have prepared
for your career by
making sure you
have read every
management book
within your reach
or have taken time
management classes available for you at that time, as
well as use a daily planner to organize and schedule
your day. However, until today, you still feel like you
cannot get everything done as planned. Did you miss
something out of everything that you have learned or
perhaps you're just too busy to stick to your schedule
and tasks religiously? Well, let us forget about all of
these questions and start again because whether you
like it or not, everything that you have learned before
did not work for you.
What you need to know is that before you can ever
begin to manage your time, you must first
understand what time really is. You can get the
definition of time from the dictionary but to put it

simply, time is when things happen. It is when
seconds pass by and stuff is happening all around
you; you can either let your own stuff happen or just
watch people let their own stuff happen to them.
Every second, every minute counts and time flies
depending on what you are doing at the moment
because you can either let it slip away without lifting
a finger or you can simply do what you have to do to
make something out of yourself.
If you find it hard to manage your time at work, don't
worry because we will give you some very helpful
tips in order to manage your time wisely. Here are
the following:
1. Carry your organizer wherever you go. This
organizer should contain your schedule for the day
especially your priorities for the week.
2. Create a to-do-list that should have all the
important tasks you need to finish today.
3. Go to work earlier than your original time in
schedule to clean your desk, relax, answer emails
from yesterday, and organize your thoughts so you
can think clearly for the rest of the day.
4. Take your breaks on time so you will have more
time to breathe when things get a little tough inside
the office.
5. Schedule time for interruptions to help a colleague
or for unavoidable tasks.
6. Avoid gossiping.
7. You don’t have to answer every call, practice doing
callbacks.
Handling your time well is a career management skill
that every employee should practice because it will
not just help improve their performance in the office
but it will also make them understand how a positive
mind and a carefully planned action could bring out
the best in them. These basic tips will help them live a
successful and meaningful career for the years to
come.
