2. Welcome to the orientation for the Academic
Improvement Plan (AIP) Program.
You may be wondering what is an AIP and why
do I have to do one. This is what you will find
out during this orientation.
Let’s get started.
3. The Academic Improvement Plan is a program
designed to assist students who have been
readmitted to Southeast Missouri State
University with achieving academic success
upon their readmission.
4. The requirements of the AIP will be agreed upon
between the student and their assigned staff
member.
The requirements could include but are not
limited to:
◦ Meeting with an assigned staff member
◦ Completing a learning style inventory
◦ Completing a set number of meetings
◦ Completing College Success Seminars
◦ Completing any referrals made by the assigned staff member.
All requirements must be completed before 8
week grades.
5. If the AIP requirements are not completed by
8 week grades, there is a registration hold
placed on the students account by the
Registrar’s Office which will not be lifted until
after Final grades have been submitted and
the student has earned above a 2.0 grade
point average for the semester.
6. The First Step toward completing your AIP is
to attend this Orientation. You are already
half way done!
The next step is to complete the AIP Intake
Form.
Once your Intake Form has been reviewed the
Retention Specialist will contact you.
7. This concludes the Orientation for the AIP
Program.
You will be contacted by the Retention
Specialist, Emily Oliveira, regarding the
requirements of your AIP.
8. Nothing can stop the man with the right mental
attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on
earth can help the man with the wrong mental
attitude.
