Attempting to sustain the consumption habits of one billion people has pushed the world’s natural resources and ecosystems to their limits and now a collective effort is required by all stakeholders to address this problem
Swedish knowledge makes the difference ; experience of minimizing environmental impact of different productive sectors, including agriculture, and the degradation of natural capital, including soils, forests, fisheries, water and genetic resources must be minimized to help slow down climate change, to assure inclusive and equitable development, and to improve resilience.
SIANI roleWe must link up a lot of the energy and action that is happening at sub-national, at grassroots level. And we must think how this links into the whole debate to make sure that the fine words around the SDGs are put into practice.” Food security and nutrition are part of this vision, as increasingly urgent priorities throughout the world requiring bold action to eliminate hunger, and the progressive and accelerated realization of the right to food

Malnutrition today comes in many different forms: globally, 842 million people go hungry every day, and one in four children under 5 are stunted and will never reach their full physical and cognitive potential. About 2 billion people lack vitamins and minerals essential for good health.Hunger, Food Security and Nutrition in the Post-2015 Development Agenda stressed that food security and nutrition represent the cornerstone for progress on other development fronts such as employment, education, the environment and health and in achieving a quality future for humankind.
Coordination and accountability across sectors is essential. Because of the cross-sectoraland interdisciplinary nature of the new agenda, which emphasizes the linkages between food security and nutrition, appropriate coordination and coherence among many stakeholders and agents at all levels is critical.
