Digital Divide Data is a hybrid non-profit/for-profit organization founded in 2001 that provides job training and employment opportunities to economically disadvantaged youth in developing countries. It has over 1,100 staff across offices in Cambodia, Laos, Kenya, and the United States. The organization breaks the cycle of poverty by recruiting and training poor youth, over half of whom are young women and 10% who have disabilities. Trainees go through an intensive work-study program and earn higher average incomes than other graduates. Digital Divide Data in Kenya has trained over 230 individuals since opening in 2011.

school graduates—and even better than college graduates—
most of whom come from middle and upper class families.
