Burning Man is an annual festival held in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada where for one week each year a temporary city called Black Rock City is built. The festival has a gift economy where participants provide goods and services to each other without money in exchange. Relationships are formed between neighbors and participants must work together for survival. At the end of the week a large wooden effigy called "The Man" is burned in a climactic event.
