  1. Delighted to be here to open your conference. Hope those of you who visited NLS this morning enjoyed it. Broad remit: some things relating to how libraries and librarians support learning formal & informal settings how NLS supports learners perhaps a virtual tour of NLS all in 10 minutes! So: try and touch on all points. Start with a little about NLS Established 1925, history back to 1686 Scotland’s legal library, one of the world’s great libraries 14m books, 8.5km manuscripts, 110,000 visitors, 2 m digital customers Journey to ensure everyone can explore, enjoy and learn with the Library. We believe that major research and national libraries – so often the preserve of the academic – should support all learners; the wealth of our collections and expertise should be available to everyone.
