Social bookmarking allows users to save URLs online and tag and share them with others. There are five key reasons to use social bookmarking: to organize web links, share useful links with colleagues, publish resource lists for clients, stay up-to-date on industry news and resources, and discover websites and people of interest. Google Bookmarks makes social bookmarking easy by allowing users to save bookmarks to their Google account, tag them, and access them from anywhere.

What is social bookmarking?
Social bookmarking is a way of saving URLs online so that you can access them from anywhere
and tag and share them with others.

1. Organize your collection of Web links
2. Share useful web-links within your team
3. Publish organized lists of resources for outside partners and clients
4. Keep up with the latest news, online resources, and information in your sector
5. Discover websites, online resources, organizations and individuals in your area of interest
Letʼs get started...
• Login to your Google account
• Visit http://www.google.com/bookmarks
• If your new to the service, you will see a page that looks like this:
• Click on Add bookmark in the left-hand column under Tools.
• Click and drag the blue box that says Google Bookmark to your browser’s toolbar.
• Open a new window or tab and visit a website whose address you want to save. For example,
www.smex.org

2. • Click on the new “Google Bookmark” link in your toolbar and a window like the one below will
open with the Location URL completed. Add the other information as necessary. Make sure to
separate the tags with commas. Click Add bookmark when you’re finished.
Once you’ve added bookmarks, they will show up as starred in Google searches that return
that site as a result:
