Annual Event 2010
Venue: Research Institute for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Irrigation (HAKI) in Szarvas, (Hungary)
Date: 2-3 June 2010
The conference will take place in HAKI, located in Szarvas (http://www.szarvas.hu (website in Hungarian
only)), which is a small, peaceful resort town, situated in the southern part of the Great Plain of Hungary
about 160 km from Budapest.

2. Szarvas is situated on an oxbow lake of River Körös, and thus, is an important centre of aquatic tourism
and fishing. It is one of the oldest centres of Hungarian agricultural education. The most attractive value of
the town and its surroundings is the natural beauty including the Europe-famous Arboretum.
HAKI (http://www.haki.hu) is a centre of excellence on aquaculture and fisheries research that is
implementing multidisciplinary research programmes with the main aim to provide scientific basis for the
development of fish culture technologies under various conditions from natural waters to intensive
systems.
Arrival
Shuttle bus services have been organised from and to Budapest airport, according to your arrival and
departure data; please see the excel table attached to the e-mail (Aqua-tnet AE2010_shuttlebus
arrangements (ARRIVAL)). The shuttle buses will work according to the list with names we provided the
shuttle bus company with. As these shuttle buses are ‘personalised’ we URGENTLY request you to inform
us in case there is a change in your travel plan en-route (delay, missed flight, illness, you have alternative
travel plans, etc) and you will not make your shuttle, you must contact our contact person at phone
number: +36 20 5817643.
Participants should assemble at the information desk in terminal 2B where a staff member from HAKI will
await everybody to take you to the shuttle bus that is parked just outside at the terminal. Budapest
Ferihegy International Airport has 3 three main terminals: 1, 2A and 2B. Transfer between terminals 2A
and 2B can be made on foot. Terminal 1, however, is further away and must be reached by bus; bus line
200E.
Please inform the HAKI staff member (at phone number: +36 20 5817643) if you have any problems
making your way to the information desk, do not hesitate to contact them.
Taxis
Taxi fares from Budapest to the venue, and vice versa, are NOT considered as allowable travel costs, and
will not be reimbursed.

3. Hotel information
We have organised all participants into 2 hotels located in Cserkeszőlő, which are within walking distance
from each other. Please find attached an excel document (Aqua-tnet AE2010_hotel arrangements) in
which you can find in which hotel you are allocated.
Rooms cost 12300HUF (approx. 55 euro) per night and each guest will pay his own hotel invoice.

The Aqua-Spa Conference and Wellness Hotel is situated in Cserkeszőlő, in the best known village of the
area Tiszazug, close to the Medicinal and Thermal Bath of the village, about 200 m far from the Aqua-Lux
Wellness Hotel. The conference and wellness hotel can be called like the island of relaxing, far away from
the noise of the cities, with high-quality services it offers a nice opportunity for relaxing for individually
guests, companies and also for organised groups. All the double rooms with bath room are air-
conditioned, have own balcony and are equipped with LCD-tv set (satellite), minibar, telephone, Internet-
connection, built-in safe and magnetic card lock. People, who like culinary delectations, can sure find

Program facilities:
Adventure Park: In the Arboretum of Tiszakürt (5 km from the hotel) the Adventure park offers complex
programmes for the adventuresome guest. The alpine ropes court and the 100 m long Canopi slide-court
of the adventure park are integrated to our outdoor program-supply for groups. The alpine ropes court
included 3,5m high “hurdles and bridges”. We teach the participants the basics of the archery; finally you
can try your new skill in archery competitiveness! In case of groups, company-events we prepare an
individual program-offer.
Wine Cellar in Tiszakürt: We organize wine- and palinka tasting, presentation of wines and wine-dinners
in Tiszakürt, in the authentic renovated Bolza-Cellar near the Arboretum. The quality, typical wines of this
region will be presented by the wine-grower. During the presentation we serve peasant dish and life gipsy
music takes care of the good atmosphere.
Facultative program-facilities: Quad- and Yacht tours on the River Tisza and Trips to the Tiszazug
With drivers we organize Quad-tours to the wildromantic Tiszazug. For our quests we offer individual
yacht-tours, Tisza-shipping and variant trips to the Tisza-countryside!
Transport between hotel and meeting venue
To go to the meeting venue at HAKI, a shuttle bus will be organised and will depart at Aqua Spa hotel each
morning at 8.50hrs.
Shuttle buses will take participants back to the hotel after the meeting / dinner.
Annual meeting
Registration
On Tuesday evening June 1st between 18.00 – 19.30hrs, participants who have already arrived should
register with the aqua-tnet Secretariat at hotel AquaSpa (Cserkeszőlő), sign the attendance list and collect

5. their name badges. Participants who can’t register then should register with the Aqua-tnet secretariat in
the morning of June 2nd.
Lunch & Coffee Breaks
During the event lunch & coffee breaks will be provided in the Meeting venue.
Dinner
On Tuesday night there will be a group dinner for participants who have arrived by then in Szarvas at the
Liget hotel at walking distance from HAKI.
On Wednesday night there will be a group dinner for participants in Szarvas at the Liget hotel at walking
distance from HAKI. Entertainment will be given by the Szarvas Folk Dancing Group and the Folkloric Music
Group.

Miscellaneous
Reimbursement
Subsistence and Travel costs will be covered for eligible participants (members of an aqua-tnet
Institution). Reimbursement will be made after the meeting following submission and approval of receipts
sent to the overall network coordinator, Ghent University.
Participants should keep proof of all their expenses, including boarding passes, to get their expenses
reimbursed. For rules and procedures regarding claiming your expenses for this meeting, we refer to the
document “AQUA-TNET2 – Reimbursement of T&S_rules and procedures” that has been sent to you
previously. Further explanations will also be given during the meeting.
Dissemination Forum
If you have any information you would like to distribute e.g. flyers, leaflets, posters, etc; please bring them
along with you as there will be a dissemination table available at the Event where you will be able to leave
your material.

Places of interest in the area:
Bath in Cserkeszőlő
The 82C geothermal water of the medicinal and thermal bath in Cserkeszőlő contains iodine, alkali
chloride and hydrogen carbonate, and it comes from a depth of 2300 meters. It is also suitable for the
post-treatment of locomotor and rheumatic diseases as well as gynaecological inflammations. For guests,
who have skin problems, we recommend the tank bath cures, and when suffering from asthmatic
problems you will feel better after a salt-cave-cure in the Bochnia salt cave. This water can be used
successfully in drinking cures, to treat acute and chronic stomach and bile disorders and bronchitis. The
bath has a fully equipped therapeutic department for those seeking medication, and of course the hotel
makes sure that those who come here for a treatment enjoy all comforts. The bath offers excellent
opportunities not only to those who seek medications, but also to those who want to wind down or have a
nice swim : a wave pool, Europe's first and longest 2-lane tarpaulin chute, swimming pool, children's pool,
' leisure' pool with chutes, back massager, 'water castle', labyrinths and bastions.
The medicinal bath has open air and indoor medicinal pools and a new indoor medicinal Bath-complex
(open 2010. autumn) with buzz-elements (Jacuzzi, Whirl-Passage pool, Swimming- and Children pools).
