Foreword
The beautiful country of Zambia faces many challenges but with its abundance of
natural resources and a hard working population it is determined to improve the
quality of life of all its citizens. The Shaping our Future meetings began in 2012 and
each year since a large gathering of interested parties have met in Lusaka in March.
We have arranged a unique opportunity for those businesses who are already active
in the country, or who are interested in investing in this fast growing economy, to
meet together, discuss and learn of ways of investing in Zambia.
We will focus on offering constructive ways of navigating the challenges posed by this
fast developing economy. Such a gathering will be address a wide range of ways of
working with and for Zambians to improve their efficient use of resources, build
better business environments and develop the skills of its indigenous population.
The conference will bring together a wide range of interested Agencies, leaders of
business, commerce, the public services and decision-makers to discuss and plan how
they can work together to address such areas as:
increasing food yields, leading to greater food security, potential export income,
reducing imports - so saving foreign exchange and building the platform for an
increased role in wealth creation for their indigenous business sector
developing other natural resources, including wild life, to widen employment and
allow the regional disparities to be addressed in ways that offer meaningful
employment to those living in the 'regions' and allowing the natural wealth of
the country to be a main generator of wealth
energy creation, its use and storage and how to generate future supplies, that
will allow the majority of the population access to a permanent source of energy
applying technology to old problems in new ways, empowering the people to
engage in wealth creation and feel part of the solution and not just the problem
widening access to education and training and building a deeper and wider skills
base – releasing the potential of all and boosting the productive capacity of a
nation wanting to 'move forward'.
4. SSCG |Events |ZASOF2015 4
widening access to primary health care and removing some of the threats and
problems that reduce human efficiency and blight the lives of so many
broaden opportunities for employment, especially amongst the expanding
younger generation – show them the skills needed to add value to both
themselves and their economy, build both confidence and capacity and release
the true potential of the population
increase dialogue amongst all stakeholders and encourage awareness,
empowering Zambia to develop – using partnerships and collaboration that are
genuinely beneficial to all and promote business interest and investment and
the utilisation of all the resources
SSCG has a long-standing commitment to such gatherings and wants to help those
they work with to:
build their operational capabilities within what will become a leading economy
in Southern Africa
build relationships and trust with the Zambian business community, the leading
decision-makers, academics and other relevant parties
manage their business risks, grow business confidence and be part of the
development of Zambia
develop opportunities and achieve maximum business returns in ways that train
the indigenous population to increase their efficiencies, apply the latest
technology, show awareness of the need for sustainable solutions and offer a
spirit of co-operation and mutual benefit
consider Zambia as a 'hub' economy that allows them to see it as a base for
future expansion into its neighbouring economies
Your business will gain much from being part of Shaping our Future 2015 and we do
hope that you can join us – the feedback from previous gatherings has been excellent
and many of those who attended in the past have already booked their places for
March 2015.
