WHAT IS LEADERSHIP ?
Leadership has been described as
“A process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid
and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task.”

”Organizing a group of people to achieve a common goal”.

• the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country.

 Show respect to those around you.
 Communicate (in a way that not only informs, but inspires).
 Be generous (with time, encouragement and responsibility).
 Be decisive (and take responsibility for your decisions).
 Express your passion .

QUALITIES OF A LEADER
INTEGRITY
A leader’s integrity is same on the outside and on the inside .
DEDICATION
It means that a leader spends whatever time or energy is necessary to
accomplish a task. A leader inspires dedication by setting an example to
his/her followers.
MAGNANIMITY
It means giving credit to others. Also a good leader takes the
responsibility for failures.
QUALITIES OF A LEADER
OPENNESS
It means being able to listen to new ideas . A good leader always listens
others’ opinion. Openness builds mutual respect and trust between
leader and followers.
FAIRNESS
It means dealing with others consistently and justly.
CREATIVITY
Creativity give leaders ability to see things that others have not seen
and thus lead followers in new direction.
QUALITIES OF A LEADER
ASSERTIVENESS
It is the ability to clearly state what one expects so that there will be no
ambiguity . A leader must be assertive to get desired results.
FORWARD LOOKING
A leader must be forward looking. The whole point of leadership is to
figuring where to go from where you are now.
COMPETETANT
A leader must be competent because people want to follow a leader
who is competent.
QUALITIES OF A LEADER
UNBIASED
A good leader is unbiased and treats each member equally.
OPENMINDED
Work to consider all options when making decisions.
OPEN TO CHANGE
A leader will take into account all points of view and will be willing to change
a policy, program, cultural tradition that is outdated, or no longer beneficial
to the group as a whole.
EACH PHENOMENA
The components of EACH support leadership by valuing people's
individuality and finding common ground:
 Empowerment allows people to do things their way.
 Accountability holds people responsible for their own actions.
 Courage helps people put group interests above personal ones.
 Humility fosters connections by encouraging people to learn from one
another and demonstrate vulnerability and trust.

It is an extreme form of transactional leadership, where leaders have
absolute power over their workers.
BUREAUCRATIC LEADERSHIP
These type of leaders follow rules rigorously.

They invite team members in decision making and make final decisions.
CHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP
They inspire lot of enthusiasm in their teams
DON’T’S OF LEADERSHIP
• Valuing others emotions and perspective.

• Avoiding dealing with and resolving conflicts.
• Isolating oneself from others in the organization.
• Being too friendly.
• Failing to define goals.
