The Bosconian Expression
From Headmaster’s Pen
Dear Students, teachers and
Parents and Guardians,
Once again we are in summer
and holidays. I am sure that all
are enjoying being together at
home. I would like to wish all of
you: students, teachers, parents
and guardians a very happy
summer vacation days ahead.
May you have fun to relax
yourself and happiness to enjoy
the same.
I would like to congratulate and
appreciate the students who
have taken initiative to bring out
the first edition of The
Bosconian Expression. I also
would like to thank sincerely Sir
Muktarul Hussain for his
guidance and support to the
students. It is as a result of
days of hard work and planning.
Many of our young ones are
interested in climbing the ladder
of success. The school is only
happy to provide avenues and
opportunities to cultivate in them
innovative creativity. Today
these soft qualities are ever
more wanted than before. While
they trod their way to success
and unexplored areas of their
interest and possibilities, I would
like to invite all to join hands to
develop and establish a
progressive state at every front.
Let us begin this progress in
ourselves by spending our
holidays more fruitfully and
gracefully. May God bless you
all.

Oh! The fright that I felt
In that place
And the fright that I planned
From that place
Even for a cartload of coins I would tell to none.
But here I am compelled to write
And hope no one would laugh at my plight
Many a time, I felt someone behind me,
Perhaps a ghost, whom I fear the most.
Here and there, I saw „Many things‟ tall and stern
Perhaps spooky trees, seeing which your fear will surely increase.
Far and beyond, I noticed a dark gloomy „something‟
Perhaps a haunted castle and if not, it‟s surely a miracle.
In fright, all my five senses died
But my sixth sense jerked me up
And I fled from that dreadful place
Resolving ever to return even in great stress
Running, running, running; not a word from my lips, I uttered
Dumbfounded and partly mortified, I kept on running
For the sake of my dear life
Few miles ahead, I noticed the gate of my dear house.
In great delight, I ran, hopping to the front door
And rang the bell, may be thrice or more,
And thus ended my dreaded adventure.
So, friends I request you again
Not to laugh or jeer at me
If I were thee
And you me
What would be your state
Think and see!
Wrapped in clothes and wools, I sat watching through the window
At the silent raindrops, the grief filled tears which made the leaves glow
The darkened sky sets the shadow on the earth
Perceptible of human selfishness and of the ill hearth
I sat there, looking at the myriad tear drops
How they washed the dead earth, how unsuccessfully they tried to cut
the hated crops
Look, O! how far the heavens shed tears
Alas! This grief is one that brings more fear
For one day, man may be doomed, destroyed in his own hand
No earth will be left, no mighty man on land
Yet he realises that naught, because he is adamant
He thinks only of himself, neither God nor friends
O Lord! What has happened to my earth that was so serene?
My Paradise, my haven, that was bright and green
But, He does not reply for he knows it too
That „Man kills man and Man has destroyed the planet that was once
blue
And that was what I thought, as I sat watching the rain
Reminds me of man‟s curse and heaven‟s pain.

3. This is a story of a sweet little girl named
Emerald. She possessed wonderful qualities and
is full of talents. Each and every teacher as well
as her friends liked her, except a few. She never
treated anyone badly. Her best friends are Amy
and Tiya. Everyone knew about this. But the
intention in the two girls‟ minds was completely
negative. All this was because they wanted to use
her as their weapon. And when Emerald came to
know about this she broke down.
It happens to most of us when we come to know
that our close friends are our enemies. It breaks
our heart and we think as if this is the end of our
life. But courageous people do not think so.
Emerald did not possess this quality and she
broke down. From then on she hated her school
and friends and never went to school.
Seeing this, her mother, Mrs. Scylla, became sad
and tried her best to send Emerald to school. At
last she succeeded.
Emerald was back, everyone was happy. But
what about Amy and Tiya? They did not like her.
Their minds were full of negative thoughts.
One day, Emerald met Amy and Tiya and tried
her best to ask the reason why they hated her but
the two girls ignored her. Emerald‟s eyes went
red. Ranny saw this and she scolded the two girls.
After this Ranny cooled her mind and spoke these
words to Emerald-“Emerald, everyone cannot get
what one wants. „Life is what you make it‟
therefore try to love the one who loves you and
ignore the one who ignores you. Always be with
truth as truth always conquers. Try to gain self
confidence in yourself. I am always with you.”
The bell rang and it was English class. The
teacher asked Emerald to speak a few words on
„True Friends‟. Emerald spoke –“True friends are
those who stands by us through thick and thin.
The true friend is true in every aspect. „A friend in
need is a friend indeed‟. My best friend is Ranny.”
Everyone cheered her and
the bell rang for break. Amy
and Tiya weren‟t happy not
because they hated her but
they came to realise their
mistakes and were shedding
tears. Emerald forgave them
and was happy as they were
reunited again. No force can break them as they
were united. „United we stand, divided we fall‟.
Emerald, Amy, Tiya and Ranny enjoyed the real
fun with real friends.
Moral
“Isn‟t it great to have fun with friends? If you want
to have real friends please have understanding,
positive thoughts, patience, self- confidence and
be united with all”.☺

Roger Bacon is often recognized as the “First man of Modern Science”. The great pioneer of science was
born at Somerset in England. He became a student at Oxford when he was just 12 years old. At Oxford,
he studied Grammar, Rhetoric, Logic, Arithmetic Music, Geometry and Astronomy. Later, he became a
lecturer in the University of Paris in France. There he lectured on the “Philosophy of Aristotle”.
Roger Bacon had a fertile scientific imagination. He was the first ever thinker to hold high the role of
Experiment and Observation in Science. He was even the first to insist on the fact that the experiments
could be repeated with the consequent experimental results. It is still regarded as the criteria of scientific
truth. He was truly the path-finder and trailblazer of the methods of modern science.
Though Bacon‟s greatest contribution as his strong advocacy of the Experimental Method in Science yet
he left behind various areas where he made significant contributions like gun powder, parabolic mirrors,
musical instruments, surgical appliances, magnifying power of lenses etc. He wrote two books that
projected his scientific bent of mind. Opus Major and Opus Minor were the two books he wrote and sent to
the Pope. Opus Minor was an abridge version of Opus Major. In Opus Major he wrote about the possibility
of reaching the Fabulous Indies (India), if one could sail Westward from Spain. Later in the 15th
century,
the navigational route triggered the imagination and inspired Columbus.
It embodied him to layout his plan and present it to Ferdinand, the King of Spain. Though Roger Bacon
became a monk and joined the Franciscan order, his scientific notions were found to be too novel by the
church order. As a result of it he faced imprisonment in 1277. He spent about 15 years of his life in jail,
and died in 1292.
