7. INTRODUCTION
• Engineering services formally known as central engineering. Basically
works as to provide Engineering support, usually known as Development
Engineering for aircraft system and component per ATA chapter wise ,in
order to carry out maintenance works. It is also known as Responsible
System Engineering (RSE) functions. System Engineers of Central
Engineering has the prime responsibilities for accomplishment of
Engineering services function
9. Disciplines
There are six departments in Engineering services.
1. Structure Groups.
2. Airframe systems Group.
3. Propulsion systems Group.
4. Electrical/Instrument Group.
5. Radio & Radar Group.
6. Reliability and Publication Group.
12. Function of Engineering Services
The main function is to provide necessary document order to do any kind of maintenance job
• Development, review, optimization, amendment, implementation and Control of aircraft
maintenance Program for each type of aircraft through Aircraft Maintenance Schedule
(AMS) and Component Operating and Storage Limits (COSL).
• Assessment and Technical Evaluation of Technical Literature like
Airworthiness Directive (A.D) (mandatory),
Service Bulletins,
Modification and
manufacture’s other Technical problem.
• Incorporation of above mentioned tasks through appropriate Maintenance Directive such
as Modification Orders, Repair Orders, Inspection Orders, and Technical Notices etc
17. Other jobs
• Provide analytical service of different aircraft system performance
and product improvement.
• Management and Operation of Reliability Program.
• Management and Deferred and Repetitive Defects Analysis .
• Provide Engine management service.
• Provide landing gear overhaul management.
• Provide Repair scheme for aircraft etc.
18. Objectives
In order to carry out proper maintenance works. The objectives of Engineering
services Group is Technical Administration of Aircraft Maintenance Program both
schedule and unscheduled and are realized as under:
• To ensure inherent safety and reliability of equipment.
• To restore safety and reliability to inherent levels when deterioration has
occurred
• To obtain information necessary for design improvement when inherent
reliability is inadequate.
• To maintaine the structural requirements.
• Cost effective engine management
19. Activities
• The Structures group
the Structures group works with the structures maninly . With the
supervised by one principal system engineer this department do following
works
Analysis of structural defects like damage, corrosion and fatigue
monitoring defects and damage and shop reports of related system
components for product improvement.
Find out the Damage nature
20. Damage nature
Conducting various type of reparing works
Damage
Allowable Non allowable
Repair
Onetime Temporary parmenent
21. The Propulsion systems Group:
On the consideration of safety , Reliability and Economy this department
chooses the right step regarding propulsion side. Such as
Engine purchase ( on the basis of safety , reliability and economy)
Engine Health monitoring (EHM)
Shop visit after a certain period
Inflight maintenance support
Material management support
Reliability support

24. The Reliability and Publication Group
The Reliability and Publication Group develop is very important department that
plays a vital role to make the airplane journey more reliable. Some activities are
Developing review, optimize and control Airframe Maintenance Program for
each and every type of aircraft in the fleet;
preparation and control of Maintenance Control Manual (MCM);
provide analytical service of different aircraft system performance, product
improvement
responsible for amendments, update & revisions of all publications.
25.
26.
27. Airframe systems Group
Airframe group is concern about the outer shape of
the aircraft and if any outer shape is damaged then
find out the cause and their solution. They should also
aware about the weather condition of their country so
that the aircraft can be suitable for them.
28.
29. Electrical/Instrument Group
Deals with the maintenance and replacement of
electrical and electronic components used in the
aircraft.
It takes feedback from the maintenance dept.
Provides required suggestion.
30.
31. Radio & Radar Group
Radio and Radar Group follow up the work of maintenance of
radio systems and radar of the aircraft. The folloeing part are
under this department.
Communication
Navigaiton
34. Communication with manufacture company.
• Receive the updates of maintenance procedure from the manufacturer.
• Decides whether to implement the updates considering the condition and the
capabilities of the airlines company.
• Produce a maintenance procedure following the instruction of the manufacturer.
• Suggest the planning engineering dept. to accomplish the job within prescribed
time .
• Also monitor updated maintenance work is done on time or not , which is also
monitored by CAAB.
• The updated order comes in a form of –
1.Airworthiness Directives (AD)
2. Service Bulletins (SB)
35. Summary
In Summary Engineering services plays a very vital role in airlines
maintenance. Engineering Services provides necessary documentation and
analysis with proper working method and also time period to do any kind of
maintenance ,repairing or modification works. Without proper
documentation no department cant do any sort of job regarding maintenance
,repair and modification. And Engineering Services Supplies that .
