5th Welcome Ceremony of NIMCJ for the New Batch Held
Ahmedabad: 5th Welcome Ceremony of National Institute of Mass
Communication and Journalism (NIMCJ) was held in Ahmedabad today.
Shri Ajay Umat, Senior Editor-editorial, Times of India was the Chief Guest and the
Guest Of Honor was Industrialist Shri Milan Dalal. The ceremony commenced with
a prayer by Sem-3 student and lamp lighting by the guests.
Chief Guest, Shri Ajay Umat, who is a part of the media industry, referred to Mass
Communication field as a challenging, wide and an innovative industry where
everyday something new, commanding and out of the box happens. He gave a
new definition of Journalism “If dog bites a man then it’s not news but if man
bites a dog and the dog catches AIDS then its news”.
While stating his paradoxical view on the upcoming media industry, he
emphasized the importance of diversification and changing with time in the
industry, as it’s necessary to stay with time. He pointed out that Indian Media
Industry is growing by leaps and bounds and has great opportunities for fresh
talent.
While bestowing his best wishes to the 5th Batch of the institute, guest of honor
Shri Milan Dalal encouraged the incoming students to be a valuable part of the
growing media industry.
The occasion ended with the recitation of National Anthem. Dr. Shirish Kashikar,
Director of NIMCJ introduced the esteemed guests and the institute. Managing
trustee shri pradip jain & other trustees shri Haresh Thakkar, Shri Ashwinbhai
Shah,students & parents were remained present.
